CEL Problem: Code P0108 Need HELP ASAP.
The Code I get is P0108. Here is what it reads: "Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input ". I already changed the MAP sensor twice and the guys at the Exhaust/Muffler shop told me it's my Short Ram Intake Sensor (Mass Air Flow Sensor).
I have a 1997 Honda Civic LX Four Door as my daily driver and I recently picked it up. I'm just trying to make a decent commuter out of this car and it is becoming a pain. Any other suggestions are gladly appreciated.

make sure that tps and map sensor plugs aren't mixed up. Get a voltmeter and some sort of repair manual. It shouldn't take you more then an hour to figure it out.

Well the MAP sensor I replaced said MAP sensor on it and was on the back of the throttle body / intake manifold. There was a similar looking sensor on the left side.

Yeah, they're both fine. I have no idea. Do you think the sensor on the intake has anything to do with this? The people at the muffler/exhaust/headers shop I went to told me it could be the short ram intake on my car? They also said it may be the Mass Air Flow Sensor that goes into the intake. YOu think this could be it?

Thrifty Auto SUpply had another name for it, but i'm gonna pick one up today for $21 or so. Do you think that may be the problem? Man this CEL thing is pissing me off.

no it's not... It will throw a different code, don't throw parts in the car. I did some research on that code and there is a technical service bulletin from honda for that code. Do you have a rough idle? If you do you need to find out what that TSB calls to do.

So I installed a brand new exhaust manifold (OEM Headers and OEM Catalytic converter) and the shop also changed the bottom O2 sensor and I still have the CEL.... Wow, i'm $800 into this piece of crap and i'm leaning towards giving up. I guess i'm gonna check the wiring of the MAP sensor. Does an aftermarket intake have anything to do with this? All my vacuum lines were good. Please someone help me ASAP thanks.

which is build into the ecu , The sensor detects ambient barometric pressure and sends the voltage signal to the microcomputer.
Possible Causes
Harness or connectors (The sensor circuit is open or shorted.)
Engine coolant temperature sensor may be faulty
try checking those.

when did this start to happen. if it started when you put the short ram intake on, maybe you left a vacuum hose off. if it isn't a hose then you need to check the map sensor and work your way to the ecu using a volt meter. check hondahookups.com and get the honda service manual and on page 11-121 is where you need to start.

OK I messed with my chords and got a new "before" O2 sensor. Oh yeah, I also cleaned the throttle body and checked all vacuum hoses again and the wiring for the Map sensor and couldn't find anything wrong. So now I have a brand new manifold headers and catalytic converter, brand new BEFORE and AFTER O2 sensors, Brand new Map sensor, Brand new Spark Plugs, Synthetic Oil change, and brand new Air Intake Temperature sensor. Do you guys think it could be the aftermarket intake? Oh yeah, also got brand new exhaust piping at 2" wide and brand new OEM muffler.

Im having a problem with my MAP sensor as well at the moment. Its winter here now and we get pretty cold. I went outside to start my car, after having the block heater plugged in and it started but the CEL came on. I already knew it was going to be the MAP as this happend 10 months prior. Previously, I changed the sensor twice and finally the 3rd one held. Now it goes out on me again. I really dont see a reason for this to happen.
It was mentioned above that a short could cause this. Now what do you mean by that? Like bare wire grounding itself out, or a loose connection barely making contact?
Also, do you think a sudden rush or too much air during startup would cause this CEL? Such as a leak in the vacuum line going to the master cylinder?
It was also stated to check the coolant temp sensor. How would that have any effect if the code is triggered upon initial startup?
I am very sorry to thread jack, I just want to find clarification as well. The MAP sensor CEL seems to be difficult to diagnose.
