EMD gauges in an 89 CRX
I bought some EDM gauges for my CRX and wanted to know a couple of things before i tried to install;
1. Do the gauges fit in a stock 89 gauge hood, or do I need a 90-91 hood?
2. Are the wiring and plugs the same? If not, is there a wiring guide?
Thanks!

What kind of gauges did you buy ? Just saying they are EDM doesn´t help much. In europe we had different looking gauges for 88-89 and 90-91 just like in the US. However for the 90-91 we also had the VT model which have a 8000 rpm redline. I wouls assume you want to install a set of VT gauges ? In that case you will need the 90-91 gauge hood and the 2 small brackets where you bolt it the gauges.
The plugs on the back will be the same but you will need to rewire pretty much all of them , just depin the plugs and lenghten wires as neccesary.
I did this swap myself in my 89 EDM CRX and I have made a wiring guide for it , but since you´re in the US it won´t help since your wiring is different.
However it´s pretty easy to see what all the wires do at the back of the gauges , just label all the wires first so you know where they went to begin with on the old gauges.

It is an EDM VT gauge. The tach goes to 9K and the speedo maxes at 150MPH. I've already ordered a 90-91 gauge hood.
Wiring instructions anyone?

Actually you really don´t need wiring instructions for this. When I did this I had wiring diagrams for the gauges but they were so full of errors that they gave me more problems than they helped.
Just label all the wires with their stock locations on the plugs so you are able to go back to scratch if it gets all messed up. Then depin the plugs and look at the VT gauges where all the connections go. You can easily follow the paths on the back of the gauges to see what the wires should connect to.

Sounds like a nice little project. My car is at the shop so I can't look at the plugs right now. So what do i need to de-pin the plugs? screwdriver? Special tools?
Thanks.
Thanks.

You can easily depin the plugs with a small flathead screwdriver.
