Default Whats a good headlight bulb upgrade?

I was driving the other day in the mountains and realized that my lights just don't cut it. I am going to buy new bulbs soon. What's a brighter bulb? Something better for night driving

A lot of people swear by the Philips 9011 and 9012 as replacements for 9005 and 9006 halogens, if those fit your application. I haven't tried them yet but I have some on order to fix my ailing high beams. You could also try cleaning the outer lenses on your headlights. That can make a surprising difference.

This.

Frankly, I buy the cheaper standard type halogen bulbs. The super bright ones are marginally better but the service life is awful on them. Keep your lenses clean and polished and you should be good to go.

+1 HIR

Just installed 9011 and 9012 in place of my 9005 and 9006's in my 2000 accord. Best light and perfect cutoff, never been flashed on lows and have set a little high. Much better then short life upgrade lamps. You just need to trim one tab with a dremmel or like me dikes. Plugs right in. Some even used nail trimmers! Found mine on eBay, fast free shipping.

OP never mentioned anything about what car he has. The HIR bulbs have pretty limited fitment.

Have you seen the Plasmaglow Ignitors?

http://www.autoanything.com/lights/p...conversion-kit

They are an LED headlight bulb, supposedly much brighter than stock. I've been thinking about picking up a set, just gotta find the $$$.

I'd like to see more about these. Been waiting for LED stuff to trickle down to the aftermarket.

Or maybe I should keep holding out, since Audi is doing laser headlights now

The headlamp is the main determining factor when it comes to how much light is directed onto the road. There are dozens of aftermarket bulbs that will be the same size as OEM bulbs, and claim to be "UP TO 35% BRIGHTER/WHITER", with an added $50 to the price tag. Most of those claims are compared to an already faded light bulb (read the fine print). For the most dramatic increase in visibility you need to change to something like HIDs

According to your driving circumstances the Adaptive Headlights would be the good option for you but your vehicle may or may not be support such kind of Hi-Tech Headlights. And these are very costly.

Therefore I would like to suggest you go for White Halogen Light Bulbs.
It improves the lighting visibility specially at night time and their quality is also excellent as I used in mine. Check this

here the different fine variation select suitable for your car.

Yeah retrofitting adaptive lights onto an old Honda doesn't really make any financial sense. If I feel the need to drop that kind of money on headlights I'll just add it in to the down payment on something that already has them

This may not be what you are looking for, but retrofitting HID projectors is an option for the DIYer. I wish HT had spoiler tags. I've talked to him about this before, he said he got them at a pick and pull for $10. So a lot of work and a couple bucks, plus random expenses, and you can have HID lights the right way.

Below are some pics of the projectors, i'll have some pics of the actual retrofit itself, and i'll also have a write-up and lots of pics.

Alright, so far we've converted the factory plugs to 9006 plugs. We also modified the adjustment bracket. As you will see, we mounted a 4x2 piece of PVC to the adjustment bracket. That will allow us to mount the projectors flush with the back of the bracket. We will make a plexiglass lense cover to go over the new projector/adjustment bracket. Below are some pics of where we are right now. The pics of the projectors on are only mock up pics. More updates to come.

Kyle

Alright, another update. So far all we have left is to put a plexiglass cover over the projectors and the we will be finished.

Kyle

We are done. Now all we have to do is aim them and then that it.
