Review: LowePro SlingShot 200 AW - Honda-Tech

I needed a bag for my equipment and I decided to try out the LowePro SlingShot 200 AW. Here are my personal thoughts and pictures I'd like to share with you to help you decide if this is for you or not. Enjoy

1. The LowePro SlingShot 200. As expected from LowePro, build quality is firm and strong.

2. Front of bag.

3. Back of bag.

4. This compartment is found on the front of the bag, at the top. At first I thought it would be quite useless and shallow, but it's surprisingly deep and spacious inside.

5. I put my Hoya Filter Kit and all of my cleaning equipment in this compartment along with some lens covers. There's still PLENTY of depth left.

6. This compartment can be found on the front of the bag, below the top compartment. It's very shallow, with several pockets for documents, manuals, etc.

7. The following is not a compartment. At the bottom of the bag on the backside there is a "bag" you can pullout. This is the weatherproof cover.

8. Fully pulled out and slipped over the whole bag.

9. The cover does a really good job of covering all zippers and compartments.

10. This is the main compartment. As you can see, everything is sideways. The bag opens from the left. There is velcro in select parts, so movement of the main walls is pretty limited.

11. Here is some of my equipment put inside the main compartment. It's a pretty tight fit...

12. On the flap that opens the main compartment, there is a small pocket which I believe is made for memory cards.

13. This is the shoulder strap/sling thickness compared to my finger.

14. The flap underneath the clip is very useful. It prevents the hard plastic clip from rubbing against your body.

15. To give you an idea of the size of the bag, here is my Canon 400D with a 420EX flash.

16. Another size comparison; bag laid down. The main compartment actually wraps around the other side of the bag.

17. Width of bag compared to width of camera.

To conclude this review, I'd like to say the bag is fairly comfortable. However, long usage of the bag has left my shoulder a bit stressed as it a sling bag, not a true double shouldered backpack. Everything in the compartment is snug. Nothing in the main compartment moves, but a lot of things inside the top front compartment like to clatter around.

nice review. i have the same bag. its all the bag i need for my equip. nothing more, nothing less. that is, if i dont buy that 70-200 2.8. hehe...

i love the bag.

i need to get one to fit my stuff better. my bag does fine now, but i want something with insides that are not made of a tshirt type material, and something that will fit most of my gear i usually use.

can you fit your camera + grip + lens in the bag at the same time? it looks as though you removed the grip to put the camera in there.

Yes, the camera will fit with the battery grip installed. There is plenty of height clearance for that.

On a similar note, the bag might seem smaller than in the pictures because I have a Camera Armor cover installed on my camera.

That is the Canon 50mm 1.8f and better yet it is Camera Armor! It's a rubber protective housing for the whole camera and a seperate piece for the lens.

Nice Nice, I got that same lens, but that armor tossed me off. And I thought I was over protected of my stuff.

i have the 100 and I love it. Great for walk-around because it limits you to how much stuff you can take which is nice cause that bag gets heavy after awhile.

The 100 hardly holds my XT with my grip though

I have the same bag (it's awesome) and I have a Sigma f2.8 70-200mm. If you remove the divider from the lefthand compartment, the lens fits perfectly

Is there a bucket (belt type) on the bag so when you lean over to take shots, it won't swing over your shoulders?

i just got mine in the mail yesterday

I readjusted some of the compartments to allow me to take out my 75-300 from the same point that I take out my camera

pretty cool bag
but my GF says it looks a bit small for me related to my shoulder back width

Im taking it to Utah today so I will see how it does on trips
