Default Honda Accord CD Player Error

I have a 1998 Honda Accord and the CD player works fine when I first start the car. After driving for about 30 minutes, whenever I enter a CD I the player gives me the P-E0 error. The manual says that indicates a track search error but the CDs that play fine at first no longer work after I drive for about 30 minutes. I have tried using regular CDs and CDRs. The CDs are also very hot when they are ejected from the player. Could this be from something overheating the CD player? I realized this was happening as I was driving to Florida from Atlanta. Has anyone heard of anything like this happening before? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Headunits in Accords do tend to get quite hot when the heater is on.
For CD reading errors, about your only options are to make sure your CDs are clean and you can also try one of those "laser lens cleaning CDs" or blowing a bit of compressed air (those little cans of air for cleaning computers) in it. These aren't really recommended though, but if your CD player isn't working all the time, you've not got much to lose.
Otherwise, you're just going to have to get it repaired/replaced.

I've also got a 98 Coupe with similar problems. Mine usually has problems with CDRs and not finding the tracks very well (taking up to 20 seconds), but does display the 'err' on several occasions. However, the 'err' problem usally happens upon startup if a disc is already in the player. While I thought the problem was only on CDRs, I find the 'err' error present on atleast two of my store bought music CDs.

I was about to take it in to the dealership to get it fixed/replaced under warranty, but noticed it ran out about 2 months ago. Unfortunately, I've had the problem for almost 2 years and not done much about it.

I'll probably pop it out, open it up, and take a look at it myself. If a cleaning don't fix it, I think I'll head to the radio store.

If you find out a fix to your radio's problem, please let me know.
