Default B20A1??? Does anyone know alot about this motor.

I can get like a 88 or 89 prelude 2.0L for free... This car has a B20A1 in it.... can these be built for LS/Vtec?

It is a b series and it was one of the worst ever made. It has a horrible rod/stroke ratio but it can be made to produce some nice power numbers. However, I do not think that it would be good for a "frankenstein" setup. I would suggest using an LS block or a newer B20 block from a crv. JMO

first that engine code should either be a B20a5 or a b21a1. and those motors are not as bad as everyone seems to think. i have not had any problems with them nor has anyone else that i know.

HOWEVER, if you want to put the engine in a civic or crx, that wouldn't be the best thing. the handling will be affected because of the large weight difference. the engine from the integra or the ls would be a much easier fit and a better choice for a civic/crx.

Yeah bad choice if your going to put that in an EF, if you want the frankenstein motor I would stick w/an LS or a newer B20.

Apparently.. these older Prelude motors can be converted to LS/Vtec there's a site that does it. Check it out.

But.. I think it'll be a mounting nightmare for an EF.. a later model B series would be simpler especially with all the kits that are available nowadays.

hey friend, don't even bother wasting any time or money on that motor
that has the worst rod ratio out of all b-motors of all time!!
look for a B20z if your going to leave pistons and rods stock if your going to change rods and pistions then you can use either the the other b20 out of the earlier CRV or the newer one the Z has a higher comperssion
but what ever u do DON'T use the B20a1 out of the prelude
