Default What could cause a cylinder not to fire?

I posted something similar to this not too long ago, but this is really bugging me.

What could cause a cylinder not to fire? I have pretty much everything replaced (plugs/injectors/injector clips/cap and rotor/MAP sensor/intake fuel pump/FMU/inline fuel pump) I think it has been doing this for a long time now.

Anyway, you guys should be honored that you know the owner of the fastest 3 cylinder turbo Integra out there!!

Please help guys!

spark plug wires?
did you check the compression in the cylinders?
are you sure the injector is delivering fuel?
are the valves opening and closing?

do you know what cylinder is not firing?

plug wires?
My bad, I forgot to mention them. I replaced those too, no change. It's the 3rd cylinder.

Incidentally, here are my comp. test results:
1: 180
2: 180
3: 165
4: 200
I didn't perform a leakdown test, I don't have the tools required for it.

I pulled out the plug wire for the 3rd cylinder while idling, and there wasn't any change. The other wires yielded a pretty noticable change.

Any other ideas? Thanks.

Sounds electrical, most likely the plug wire or coil. However, faulty coils do not selectively affect just one cylinder.

why is 3 down 9% on compression. when all the others at 180+

This happened to me just a couple months ago. I too, had everything you mentioned checked to no avail. The culprit ended up being a bunk wire on my interior wiring harness. My friends soldered it and everything was cool again...

switch the number 1 and 3 injectors.. and see if clyinder 3 still doesn't fire
I don't think the compression on 3 should be that low though
Just trying to eliminate fuel/electrical problems
before we start looking for mechanical problems

I once had an oldsmobile Achieva S and two of my pistons weren't firing. I switched out everything that you did and it still didn't fire. Than I found out that everything, and I mean everything on the inside of my ebgine was shot all to hell. But I don't want to put your hopes down.
