Added a third can of R134a did I put too much?

Added a third can of R134a did I put too much?
I added a third can in and immediately the compressor goes on and off every 5 seconds. I should note that the car had been running for 1 hour and with the turbo was very hot. The A/C probably wouldnt have gotten cold anyways when I tried it. But did I hurt something? should I just let it cool down and try it again? should I let some out if it does it again? How much do I know to let out?

Putting too much r134 can screw up your compressor. Release some of it while you can.....
