Default PROS/CONS of having TYPE R mid-pipe

what up members,

(considering that my 97EK hatch is totally stock at the moment)

my buddy has offered me a type R mid-pipe (just the pipe, no exhaust), i was wondering what were the benefits (or if there are any) from the type R to an aftermarket/custom exhaust set-up.

the only info i know about the mid-pipe is that it is 2.25 inch diameter and is cat-back, and i am probably going to have to custom fit it to my car...
<im planning to throw in N1 style exhaust with eg headers...> ? ?

tia

the pipe was offered at $200 CAD, (around $300 USD)

-so if i wanted to go with this pipe, i would have to purchase pipe ($200), exhaust ($250) and eg headers ($50) = $500 CAD + custom fitment job ($?)

-on the other hand, if i go with the aftermarket/custom cat-back setup... everything incl will cost me $650 CAD...

i am willing to go for the type R mid-pipe if it only has certain benefits i can't get with anyother mid-pipes...

You can get the ITR B-Pipe brand new for an extra $8.00.

I'd pass on it.

well the pipe would be better then your stock one

ive put a greddy b pipe from an integra on my 97 hatch and this is what i had to do to make it work

need to get a custom test pipe made because a stock cat wont work off of another car or anythign
dont worry youll still have a cat on your car because on the hatch the car is on the header and not the just infront of the b pipe
the test pipe just needs to be about 3 inches longer then a regular cat off of say an civic si or gsr
other then that it bolts right up
just hangs lower so that might be a problem if your car in really low
good luck
