Default driving with no muffler?

is it bad to drive for the car/motor with no muffler? i was driving down the road in the old 1990 accord and out of nowhere the exhaust broke in half and fell off..... i just spent 500 on kyb agx's and h&r springs so i have no $$$$ for the $250 estimate meineke gave me. 250 seems like a lot for just the mid-section piping ( the muffler was new so thats in the trunk.... its just the mid piping from the cat to the muffler that needs to be replaced) ANYWAYS..... i only drive the car like 2 days a week max and was just wondering if its bad to drive it for like a month with no muffler?

It's going to be even worse on your wallet if you get pulled over.
I suppose it wouldn't hurt you too bad if you are really only using it that much, but that quote sounds pretty damn high just for a little piping.

I'm not big on the ups and downs of the muff biz, so I can't tell you if your local shop's trying to bone you, but I run nearly every track event without my muff, and can unequivically tell you that no harm has come to my car from doing so, my hearing, however, is another matter...

your car will backfire a lot more and will be loud, but nothing more than that.

i had exhaust piping cat back crush bent for 170, 250 sounds like youre getting raped.

Not sure this is 100% correct, but my friend who works at Dodge said the SRT-4 doesnt even use a muff....it just straight out from the cat with some presilencers....

well the 90 accord is my winter/rain/road trip/no gas in the prelude car so im not too worried about HP gains on it. $250 for a useless (besides a hearing aid in the future) muffler is a good 250$ i could spend on the prelude
