A freind did his also, he just had to wait it out. The smell eventually went away. I would say use febreeze but I thought that stuff was for fabrics.

My car smelled like spray paint after I had a quarter panel repainted. The smell will go away in a month.

Sharper IMAGE Ionic Breeze YES THIS THIG REALLY WORKS.

I use this in my house (paint Room) as well and it works like a charm. There is one made for the car but I emagine if you get one for the Bathroom (about 40 bux) Ionic Breeze Will work even better using an extension cord. Fabreeze wroks OKAY just to mask the smell but the Ionic Breeze will get rid of it. They sell all shapes and sizes. It's a good Air freshener (Main purpose)

I was thinking the same thing.
You could also try putting baking soda on the carpet just leave it in there for like a week and then vaccum it out. Baking soda asborbs smells.

then leave it in all night long with the windows up, and vac it out the next morning

Edit- the painted surface will stink until all the chemicals have released from the paint, which all depends on air circulation
