Icon2 D16y5 head on a d16y8 block????

Would this work?? how easy would it be take do, i have a d16y8 block with a d16y7 head right now on a 1996 honda civic dx

bolts right on but if ur looking for vtec that is the econo vtec head. u will need to run the y5 ecu and fix any CELs that may occure. u will have to wire vtec. if its nothing u can handle find someone who has done these swaps before

You'll need a Y5 ECU and wire up VTEC, EGR, 5 wire 02, etc. Not worth it in my opinion but if you're looking for a challenge then go for it. It would be better to look for a Y8 head, ECU and wire up the proper sensors but even that isn't going to net you much especially with the transmission you have.

i have the whole d16y5 car at my house that my brother crashed(engine is perfect still) so i could get all parts i need from it

NOT worth it the money/time spent to get it going will surpass the price of a y8 head, OR you could just re-use the y7 header and intake manifold but they both suck.

well the crashed car had a full d16y5 and my car has a d16y8 block with a y7 head, so if i put the y5 head ill have a full vtec which i want

No point in VTEC-e unless you want better gas mileage. Even the Y8 head swap won't feel like much power either especially with the Y7 transmission.
