they need to check for leaks and charge.

The the ac on pop the hood and see if both fans are running. If not it probably has a leak or such. If they are then it could be electrical. Check ac relay by tapping it and see if compressor kicks on

Sorry to hear that. Where did you take it to? If you had never checked the freon level since you got the car, it could be the problem. The AC system works mostly in the summer and hardly working in the winter time except when you ran the windshield defroster. It usually leak freon in the winter because of dry seals or connectors. You need to run the AC at least once a month when the weather is warm enough to keep it lubricated. When the freon level is low, it will cycle the compressor on and off constantly and is likely the cause of the compressor seized and died. Same go for your home AC too so check that freon level once a year. However, I had similar problem on my older Accord and it turned out to be the relay to control the compressor that failed. It was $180 to get it replaced, a lot better than $900 compressor.
