O god, not EAGLES!! Although they work for the majority, I always recommend spending that little bit extra for a "nicer" set of rods. Like always - you get what you pay for... If you use that rule and a bit of common sense you should be fine.

I'm probably going to go with aluminum rods for the current build, just do something that isn't cookie cutter, plus they weigh a lot less, which means less stress on the rotational assembly, faster response and higher rev capabilities. You just have to be super super perfect on clearances and oil pressure, normally 10 psi for every 1000rpm the motor turns.

I know everyone hates EAGLE's, because they are the choice of "the masses", mainly due to cost.
For a fairly simple/reliable street setup they are perfect for anything up to 500whp.
Currently on CP/Eagle combo for my street car.
Anything over that 500whp mark I'd spend the extra bux where it counts.
Manley/Pauter/BME rods (depending on setup) and CP/Arias pistons built to spec of the motor purposes.

Crower rods are just a glorified Eagle rod. Having said this, I have a set in one of my engines as we speak... hehe.
I personally have used CP pistons a few occasions and I must say, they are not in my top 3. They are some of the noisiest pistons at just about any clearance. No matter which way you look at it, it boils down to the SPECIFIC purpose and goals of the build. There is absolutely no reason to overbuild something if you never plan to take it that far. There is a big difference of when to overcompensate for safety and when it is appropriate for end use. Maybe it is my age, but I pick a set of goals and purpose for the car and build it to fit those requirements.
There is no reason to run Manley Turbo Stuff rods and CP pistons on a 300whp build. The point being, even if you wanted to "up the boost" or upgrade turbochargers, there would be a massive domino effect to reach the goals to the limits of said parts. Piston to wall clearance would be one of the first things to look at. Because your setup is good for 1,000+whp does not mean you should run those clearances for that. How about bearing clearances? See my point.

Until then spouting off some brand is about as ignorant as saying OEM stuff. What are the exact goals and end use of the vehicle? Once you figure this out, then and only then will the "best rod and piston" combo be able to be determined.

CP pistons/manley rods. hearing about some eagles being out of round right from the box scared me away.
my cp's aren't loud, at all. even with .0045 ptw.

Loud is a relative term. What is acceptable to some is not to others. Please don't inject ignorance. Have you even honestly used them from a range of at least 0.003-0.006" and the same with similar forging type pistons? I can assure you they are louder than other manufactures of the similar 2618 forging. This thread was over the moment it was created.

Although I would have liked to use cp pistons ,Closer to the stock compression, but just went with what I had at the moment.
I will prob end up changing pistons down the line.
I have a T70( .96 hot side). So I'm sure higher compression will make this big snail more responsive.

Waiting for "N3va3vaSatisfi3d" to pick on someone who has posted and state an age comparison in the first sentence, then portay vast amounts of personal wisdom which usually steers the topic from remotely related to talking about the car collection he has amassed over the years in what looks like a desperate effort to show why you should listen to him.

Clearly he's basically looking for what the "majority" are using to make an uber-educated guess at a brand name he should look further into.
He is also trying to create healthy discussion by asking "WHY" you chose this brand, etc.
I would take THIS thread more seriously over the ridiculous threads of late with titles and descriptions that read:
"I want 700whp reliably, from my daily driver and want to keep A/C, Power Steering, stock ignition, stock engine mounts, use ebay parts only, on pump gas and can only spend 3000 dollars total. Can I do it? What do I need?"
....and by the way, even if the OP stated a build spec, power level such as 400-500whp, the thread would still be filled with 100 different opinions on brands, when it all boils down to personal preference on what has been tried and what has worked best for the other users making their opinions.

It has nothing to do with age, although I would hope someone would trust experience rather than the fan boy. Maybe I am so bent on this because of the gun forums I am on, but you just see so many people say something is great because they own it and don't want it to be a waste of money or seem ignorant. Everything has its place (even eBay sold parts) but as was stated time and time again previously, nobody can even remotely give advice unless they know the circumstances. There are too many what if variables. For instance, what if the OP lives in Alaska or Canada and sees temperatures of -40* F and still drives his car? The forging and clearances would DRASTICALLY change for someone in the southern edge of the border of the USA.
To me, this thread is just as useless as the type of threads you gave above. I am the only one thus far to even remotely touch on WHY something should be used. Calling out a couple brand names doesn't say jack sqaut about anything. What is next, the "What is your favorite color?" thread in the Forced Induction section?
