B20/VTEC Build
Decided I'm going to try my hand at a naturally aspirated build in my own car ('00 Civic Si) after building a turbo Y8 for my brother that made 320 whp / 254 wtq. (Thread: https://honda-tech.com/forums/general-discussion-debate-40/bisimoto-engineering-ontario-ca-3006048/)
I was going to do a turbo build but a local here has a B20/V that everyone thinks is fast so I'm going to out build him.
Car will be used for drag racing on 91 octane pump gas.
Cylinder Head:
4 Piston Racing ported GS-R head
DDTECH Camshafts
Supertech valve train
Stock valves
Golden Eagle Mfg. head studs
Golden Eagle Mfg. cam gears
Golden Eagle Mfg. VTEC conversion kit
Engine:
B20B - Stock sleeves
CP Pistons 11.5:1 CR (11.8:1 with a B18C head) - 84.5 mm
Manley H beam rods
B20B crank
P72 B series oil pump, water pump and timing belt.
Edelbrock Victor X intake manifold
Edelbrock 65mm throttle body
3" intake with a velocity stack
PLM "Toda" replica header
3" exhaust
AEM V2
I think that's about it, I've only been researching for a couple weeks so if there's something I should change let me know as this build is not set in stone.

spend the $350 on Rods, your motor will thank you for it!!!!! I have heard of many stock b20 rods giving up the ghost!!! K1 makes some kick aa light weight rods!!! like $339 if I'm not mistaken!!

I can't say rods are a bad idea but I have done many b20''s with oem/arp. Never seen one break yet. I know people that have road raced on the stock rods and said they will eventually break with the failure starting at the oiling hole in the big end. Also, look up Kevin helms, he runs b20 for years in H1 with stock rods and bolts to 9k rpm...

Why reconsider?... U say drag.
Stock head does not breath well enogh for a 2l 9K-10K.
I would not sleep well with stock rod revving to 9-10K.
RS pistons are heavy for 9-10K.
For the steet U probably would not rev as high and these are all OK with a different intake manifold.

Yeah sounds like an interesting parts combo, at least mild headwork would be nice. Might need some trial and error, parts swapping to make the most of it.

Since you're running my cams, I have a head guy I recommend to my guys who might be interested in getting really nice head work at affordable pricing.. He's where i send all of my customers to. If you are interested PM Me, otherwise It looks solid.
Other Manifold recommendations would be ok to look at as well, I daily drove on a VictorX, i found it perfectly acceptable. Zolton is right though, the stock head wont flow much past 9k for a NA car.
If you're going to go into it, I would recommend replacing the rods and pistons. Crower had some nice rods a few months ago for about 250 bucks.. and eagles can be had for little or nothing. I just recently ordered new pistons for my rebuild from YCU underground tuning, and got a steal of a pricing on weisco's.. I'd recommend looking @ a different piston / rod combo as well if it is going to be a all out drag car.

Too much intake manifold for that small of a throttle body. I dislike GE vtec conversions. Look into a inlinefour vtec conversion and a Maxbore throttle body to go on that victor x. Headwork is a really good idea especially focus on the throats/bowls/quench area.

Sorry it took so long for me to reply to this thread. I'm not really interested in a complete build.
Let's just say I did a 84/84.5mm RS Machine piston, stock rod w/ ARP rod bolts, a stock port GS-R head, valvetrain and cams. Would the Victor X and 65mm throttle body do well? Change that? Header will be a MCM.
Any more money then that and I'd just do a K swap.

Imo i would ditch the victor x and go with either a performer x or a skunk2 im. 65mm tb is good. Btw, dont need built b to compete with a stock k, just need the right ingredients, but stock k's are pretty beasty.

My stock b20zVtec with stock b16 head, itr cams, itr tb bored out to 65mm, itr im, itr 4-1 header made 197whp. I posted my build and videos in the post your b20vtec thread. I think you shouldnt have problems clearing 200whp

So same everything including Victor X and throttle body size? Just S2 cams and a different header?

Skunk 2 manifold 65 mm throttle body. Smoothen out the area where the valve is with three angle valve job and three inch intake with 3" inch v stack and rmf header should help. Hope everything goes well for you

Picked up a B20B from a friend locally, crank had a spun rod bearing but block was perfect. Golden Eagle has it along with the rods. RS Machine 84 mm pistons came in today and ARP rod bolts will be here Tuesday. Block is being bored slightly to clean the walls, honed, cleaned and bead blasted. Rotating assembly is being balanced to 10,000 RPM and a fresh deck.
Next I'll be buying the GS-R head and more goodies!

Update: Selling the RS Machine / Stock rod set up and going CP Piston / Manley rods with a .020" over bore on the B20.
I stopped by Golden Eagle Mfg to pick up my parts except the block, they had it decked, cleaned and bead blasted already. Waiting on the CP pistons to show up to complete the machining.
More wait time!
