With the huge amount of variable from one day to the next 450whp on one Dyno may trap substantially higher or lower then 450hp on another Dyno.

I have always wondered this too as wheel spin effects MPH, weight of car/elevation effects ET's. For instance my car traps 129 running 11.2's a guy I know traps 112-114 running 11.3's.

What MPH generally equals what HP such as:

70-90mph=??
91-110mph=??
111-120mph=??

And so on...

The previous comments were not needed because with fwd cars, trap speed does not always get close on those calculators.

I'm at 452 whp on 93 octane.
With a broken shift selector and stock suspension have been a 11.41 at 133 on 24.5 slicks. On street tires went a 12.4 at 129.

Using the calculator, it claims I should have 540 hp and go 10.50's (from what I remember).

I think OP is looking for more real world HP vs Trap Speed experiences with people's setups.

I'd like to know the same though! My trap speed seems kind of high for my whp level in my opinion!

For my car I've had a lot of different setups in 9 years but for me it's been
200whp 100mph
300whp 110mph
400whp 120mph
500whp 130mph
And now hopefully 600whp 140mph

Lol now I have no idea how much my eg hatch weighs

670 has been 147-148

i havent ran it at 700 yet, but have seen heavier car running 160+with 760whp

With my last EG, I always had higher trap speeds and never made a lot of power.

Between 289-315whp it ran somewhere between 96-99mph the times I took it to the 1/8th mile track.

On another setup that only made 199whp it ran 87mph in the 1/8th and over 100mph in the 1/4, but I can not remember exactly what the mph was.

I have ran the same trap speeds as cars that made a nice little chunk more, but were tuned on different dynos.

Trap speeds have more to do with gearing than HP.I've seen 10mph changes with only a final drive gearing swap. Guys run low 11's here in anywhere from 115-130mph. The short answer to your question is they are just guessing.

wheelspin.net is very close to a dyno jet.

this is under the assumption that you 60 foot well and you know how to drive your car.

like one person said the weight is another important variable. 120mph at 3000 lbs is way more than a car that does it at 2000 lbs.

that website ive noticed is very accurate at like 1.6-1.7 60 foots compared to the dyno jet at humble performance. quicker et from the 60 foot and it reads a little too high

Well ill give you a real life example from my experience. Car weighed 2280 with me in it.

190whp all motor SR20VE 13.2@103mph trap
275whp,275wtq t25 turbo sr20de went 12.4@110mph
461whp t3 60 trim on @24 lbs of boost built sr20de went 11.1@132mph
roughly 530-550whp on 30 lbs of boost on same t3 setup and aftermarket intake manifold w/q45 throttle body installed, did 108mp in the 1/8th sputtering out then blew the coupler off in 4th then broke axle and never got a full run.

then 724whp went 150mph sr20ve-t, bw s400sx billet 67mm and that was somewhat missing 2nd. Went 119mph in the 1/8th. Again weight of the car didnt change much. Always between 2280 and 2300 lbs

Its all only an estimate. it will never be completely accurate. way too many variables to bench race this question. you'll be closer using et than trap, but it is all an estimate.

Too many variables from one car to another. Torque can make a huge difference also, some people will make 50-75 wtq less/more than others at the same hp levels. Then you have gearing that will make a big difference, even how much you can rev the car and carry the power plays a huge factor. Not even mentioning aerodynamics of the car, then throw in weight. I've seen cars with 600whp+ running the same times as cars running 300whp before. Then the biggest factor of them all.... the driver...

last year i had about 450-475 and trapped 126ish

I guess It would all depend on the weight of the car and the dyno used. I guess your car probably weighs close to what mine weighs. I used a dyno jet for my numbers.

Those traps are on the slow side IMO for the hp.
