FTW, c16, q16, e85, let's talk fuel
Hey Guys,
I'm headed to my tuner in a few weeks and wanted some opinions on fuel. I do not run my car on the street, only the track. Now that my car is back together and running well, I want to turn the boost up. I'm currently running 11 psi and the car made 278whp and 200tq at this level. I plan on tunign the car on 30psi when I hit the dyno.
I have access to c16 and e85, but all of these talks about FTW and q16 have me wondering which is the best option. Correct me if I'm wrong, but FTW fuels are e85 based, correct? My goals are getting the car into the mid 10's, I feel that 500-550 will get me there.
Thanks for any advice.

If I were you I wouldn't even consider FTW or Q. It's very expensive and your goals are achievable in anything you mentioned before. c16 or E85 would be my choice if your fuel system can support it. Hell, Cam2 will get you there as well.

I just didn't know if the others made more power or were better for the motor. I don't care the cost on each fuel, more worried about what is better for my motor and more efficient.
c16 and e85 are locally available though, so I'm guessing they are a more practical choice.

pump e85 here and in the mid 700's with it.
now as mentioned your fuel system is the main ingrediant, but i did manage 650 on 1000cc injectors and an a1000 fuel pump. oh yeah and a great tuner wont hurt

Inline Bosch 044
Inline filter
PTE 1000cc injectors
AEM rail
Aeromotive regulator w/ gauge

Its not to hard these days, about 5 years ago i made a little over 500hp on pump gas and an ebay 60-1 at 19psi and went 10.6@138 in a 2550lb car. Also using an intank walbro, stock lines, stock regualtor and PTE 1000's on Crome lol. And using an A1000, -8 feed, aeromotive regulator, and PTE 1600's and pump E85 made 721whp at 24.5psi.

Dang, I wish we had your kind of money to spend on fuel! We run pump e85. $3.xx is a lot better then $33 a gallon for a mid 10second car IMO. Do what you want, you will make more power with FTW

Well, i look at it as a hobby. I'm running a d2b with a 6262, so I need all of the help I can get. I work to play, so I'd like to make sure I'm putting the best stuff in this car. If running FTW Purple is only going to gain me 10whp, then I see no reason in running it. But with a single cam, and my whp goal is 500+, I'm all for anything that will help me achieve that on the lowest boost possible. I've just guessed that ~30 psi will get me to that mark. I always think low, and the car will be tuned as high as my tuner is comfortable with, I like to be surprised I guess.

The fueling the world line of fuels is not for everyone and I totally understand that. It is expensive but dolla for dollar for what it is does is worth it to many.
As far as power gains I can't say an exact number but 10hp is far from I have seen the average 500+ hp gain. I would say you would be in the range of 50hp. Not trying to sell you on it as I understand it's not for everyone but for the ones who want the most out of their setup and want a large tuning window this fuel is for you.

For gas and being your not concerned with budget as much... Q16 is probably going to be the best route.
C16 would easily support your goals though, Q just will make a little more being that it is an oxygenated fuel.

Re: FTW, c16, q16, e85, let's talk fuel
I've been vp 116 guy for so many years..however a lot of people going e85...."class permitting"if ur not in a class run alky....the benefit to e85 over alky is it has almost the same characteristics but with e85 you don't have run gas in it at the end of the day as u would with alky...with good fuel u can throw more timing at it without gearing the detonation ....You will also need nearly need twice the amont fuel with alky.so u need a more demanding fuel setup..

Re: FTW, c16, q16, e85, let's talk fuel
why race fuel, i tune a lot of evo's most of which we don't even think about anything other than 93 octane til at least 600, i don't see why you would need it to make 500-550. unless you just want a better tuning window. vp ms109 works really well on the other hand

I haven't heard of many single cams doing 500-550 on pump, I could be wrong though.

Wow man! Nice. I'm running a single cam though, so I think 500hp on pump would be tough.

c16 will be more than enough for your goal. My fuel system is the same (with the exception of the injectors, I have bosch 1000's) and motor/setup is almost identical. We easily made it past 600hp on c16. and would be easier on the pocket book vs other fuels on your list. Minus e85. like they said, fuel system would be an issue there. And I've always been afraid of consistency with pump ethanol. Our local pump is never the same.
