Default '05 Pilot - "Time" for timing belt change?

2005 Pilot - bought it new and just hit 60,000 miles. I took it for its yearly state inspection at the dealer, and they recommended my timing belt get changed - "6 years or 90k miles". I know the whole issue with Hondas and timing belts, but never heard years factored into it. I always knew 90k miles was the "magic" number. Sounded like a money grab to me, so I told them to hold off. Especially when it would cost $900. Anyone have any knowledge if this is true? Thanks.

Look in your owners manual and it will it will say to change timing belt at 105,000 miles or 7 years whichever occurs first. I have an 05' as well and am getting ready to do mine.

ive got an 05 mdx with now 131k on it. I just removed the timing belt cover to inspect the original belt and the original belt still looks and feels great. No cracks, no abnormal wear, not dried up. No noises at all from any of the idlers, tensioner, or wp. And the engine doesnt have a single leak. So its going to wait another year to get changed when I come back from overseas.

Oh and the car was in AZ most of its life. I bought it with 50k on it back in 2008.

But of course they are going to recommend you to do the belt. Its how they make money.

Our '05 just hit 107k and we changed ours. Cost us $625 with an oil change included.

Dont wait, change it. Cheaper to maintain than to replace or repair.

If you know how to pull the cover off and take a look at it, that'll help determine whether or not it needs it. 60k is nothing for an OEM honda belt
