Default 97 ACURA 3.2TL, OVERHEATING

hi, i have a 1997 Acura 3.2TL that is having some bad overheating problems. I've replaced Radiator, radiator cap, thermostat, and upper rad hose. its eating/burning coolant. No missfires. no moisture on oil cap. is this a common problem ?

I have the same problem as you do. Apparently I can't find any answers anywhere else and no one has replied to your posting either.

How many miles are both of you looking at? The head gaskets tend to go on these things with decent mileage. Check your coolant for oil and vice versa, also may want to do a compression test and leakdown test, I would bet money that is both of your problems, Its semi-common on First Gen TL's

Had the same issue, went to the shop for tests, after the compression test and leakdown test changed the head gaskets and now all is okay.

I am having the same problem
It is fine while driving on the freeway, but when I am sitting in traffic it gets real hot. There are no leaks I have already replaced the coolant temperature iensor.
It has just over 120,000 miles on it.

It sounds like it's your headgasket. Do a compression test.

BHG. Extremely common on the C32A engines.

I don't have the ability to do a compression test at the moment. I just moved 2500 miles and most of my tools are in storage. I did just change the spark plugs and they were all incredibly clean. I am not leaking any coolant and the oil is clean. I am thinking possibly the radiator fan switch at the bottom of the radiator.

Check the fans and see if they turn on at all.....

ALso, take of the radiator cap and watch for any water shooting out of the radiator. If it does, then you have a blown head gaskets.......

My Acura 3.2TL has been overheating we did the compression test and everything was good, changed the water pump, thermostat, had the heater core checked, changed the radiator cap, checked the fan relays out, checked every hose attached no collapsing hoses, finally we changed the ECT switch, We ended up having to change the head gasket, The shop we took it to said for $1700 they would change it for us. We changed it, it cost us, $600+ and everywhere we read on it said CHANGE the water pump timing belt, thermostat and ECT sensor just to be on the safe side, otherwise you may be doing it again in around 5 or 6000 miles!! So total price was total 674.00 plus 12 hours + under the hood!!
