Default Harmonic Balancer - right or left handed bolt?

I Have a D15 and I need to get the harmonic balancer off the engine. Is it right or left handed bolt.

It is not a backwords threaded bolt.

But, it's a pita to remove.

You need to use a chain wrench to stop it from spinning or a strong enough impact gun

That or rent the crank pulley tool to hold it.

You will need a big *** pry bar with cheater pipe, OR, a impact with at least 1000-1200lbs of brake away torque.

I faught mine for 2 days, and gave up. I took it to a shop and they broke it free for me.

Idk why people always have problems with it. I use a chain wrench everytime and never had a problem and everytime the bolt is torqued correctly

the good thing is once you get that bolt out the pulley should come right off! at least the last 10 I'v done have. using an air impact wrench is the only (efficient way) in my opinion. hope this helps.

As 98civicdx said - crank pulley tool!

Best thing to use! Use it with a breaker bar or impact.

Most def the easiest way...I bought off amazon and used it for mine. I sold it to my mobile mechanic buddy for 10 bucks and he uses all the time and says its one the handiest tools he has! I think you can rent them too.

i got it off by putting two bolts in the holes in the balancer and putting a pry bar through them

How do you time this engine like how do the marks have to point I didn't see any marks on the block

what you have to do is put the plastic cover back on and slide the pulley back on. Line up the pulley mark with the mark on the timing cover. your good to go

when your ready to time the cam you put the UP on the cam pulley facing up and the timing mark needs to line up with the front of the head. (THE SURFACE WERE THE VALVE COVER MEETS UP WITH THE HEAD) the mark on the cam pulley should be facing straight forward. hope this helps

if you cant find any marks just put the #1 piston at TDC (top dead center) and make sure all the valves on that cylinder are closed to ensure it is on the compression stroke. then you should be good to go

There is V shapped thing on the lower timing cover. There is white line on the pulley. put that white crack in the V and the crank is at tdc.

Don't forget to set the cam at TDC!
