Default Changing from synthetic back to regular motor oil

what do I have tto do in order to switch mmy 99 civic from full synthetic to regular conventional oil? I switched two oil changes aago and I would.like to go back to regular

Reason is. Since I.switched it seems I use more oil and now leaks.

I know I still will use oil with regular oil but.I would.rather spend 4 bucks a quart than breaking.the.bank spending like 8-10 bucks a quart every 1k miles.

Can I just use regular oil next time or.do I.have.to use some kind of engine flush.

based on my own experience synthetic oil really does not do much UNLESS you have used it since day one when the car has been driven off the lot ie brand new other than that id say you are safe to switch it back although you should get your leaks fixed

I would NOT recommend doing this. You can always buy a cheaper synthetic. I wouldn't switch and take the risk of causeing sludge. Not worth it in my opinion.

Imnot really worried about sludge. I use seafoam every so.often.and I change my oil every month. 3-4k miles. I drive about 150 miles+ a day so I.don't.think sludge would.have time.to happen

switch back and the leaks will get worse.

Its is highly reco'd to NOT switch that late in the game (with leaks etc) and you can NEVER go with one and then the other.

You went with Synth...now your stuck with it.
That or start buying gaskets for your motor.

WTF? you can switch from conventional oil to synthetic oil every oil change and back again if you want. It will not damage, change, alter ANYTHING in your motor. Why do you think they developed "Synthetic Blend"? because conventional oil had properties that synthetic oil doesnt (lubrication) and Synthetic oil has properties that conventional oil doesnt (longevity). Only thing is higher mileage engines that have never been exposed to synthetic should shorten their first change after by about 500 miles to drain all the sludge the conventional oil out. Then you can flip flop back and forth as you want.

Dont want to take it from me? google it!
-or-
Take it from Mobile1

Got a friend at royal purple and he changes his oil every 5 to 6k mostly highway miles. He gets it a lot cheaper than we do. Save some money by not changing it so often. Thats one of the pluses of synthetic.

IMO, just replace the oil leaking gaskets and stick with synthetic oil. You seem to maintain your car well. This will extend the engine's life.

switching back isn't a life and death thing but its not recommended. switching over can cause already minimal leaks to bigger ones. as yours seemed to.
but theres no problem in switching back and forth i just wouldn't.

fix your leaks first. even if you switch back it'll still leak.

working in an autoshop for 5 years i heard both aurguments. i personally think it will be ok to switch back to conventional. you have to address those leaks either way tho.
just my two cents.
