Default B20B Turbo Questions

First off, I just want to say I've been searching for days and I've decided it'd be easier to just start my own thread since I can't find what I'm looking for.

I'm looking at buying a B20B (long intake) from Tiger Japanese. I know everybody says use HMotors, but I've personally had a bad experience with them and I know two people running motors from Tiger who had absolutely no problems at all (with motor OR customer service).

My setup (97 Integra GS) will be...
-B20B with B18 intake manifold
-Walbro 255 fuel pump
-DSM 450cc Blue top injectors (cleaned by RC Injectors)
-AEM Fuel rail (got for free)
-3.1mm thick ramhorn turbo manifold (ebay)
-Big 16g turbo
-2.5 inch down pipe
-3 inch exhaust
-Fidanza 7lb flywheel
-stage 3 sprung clutch
I'll be heat wrapping the header and downpipe and the turbo will have a blanket.

On to the questions...

1) I want this to be as reliable as possible. My wastegate currently has a 7lb spring in it, but I'm not sure if that would be enough to hit my goal of around 230whp. Honestly, I'd like to go as high as RELIABLY possible with this setup. Should I bump it up to 8-9 psi or will I be safest at 7?

2) The Tuning... I have a P06 ecu (out of a 95 Civic DX), an obd2 P75 ecu (stock Integra ecu) and an obd1 P75 (automatic). Which one would be the best to use? If I remember correctly, p75's and p06's can both be used for tuning (correct me if I'm wrong). I'm debating between getting an S300 or just using Neptune... Suggestions on that?

Any other suggestions for this? Anybody else have a similar setup that ran into problems?

I have personally tuned stock b20 engines that have made 260+ some making 300 whp and none have had issues with reliability, sleeves etc.
It is all about the tuning.

1. You can run more boost on your setup as long as it is properly tuned.

2. The p06 or auto p75 will perform the came once thye are chipped/socketed.
Concerning the engine management, check out http://www.phearable.net

FYI: You will need to run a resistor box with low impedance dsm injectors.

I plan on going to Slow Motion Motorsports in Columbus, OH. As far as the program goes, since I plan on doing something else later on (not sure what exactly yet...) should I just go ahead and get an S300 or should I stick with something cheaper like Crome or something? The p06 ecu is out of a manual, so I'll probably just go with that since I'm terrible at soldering...

I plan on running resistors from radio shack for the injectors. They're what I was running last time I was boosted.

For an application like yours you can use a cheaper engine management such as crome, neptune single user (chip version) etc. If you have the need for the features something like s300 has, then it maybe worth it to use s300.

If you are terrible at soldering, you should have some one else chip the ecu: http://www.phearable.net/ecutuning.html

And the 440's might not be the best injector for your goal.. i would look into 550's at the least.

dont focus on boost pressure. your tuner will try to make the power goals with the parts you have and set it for whatever pressure you need to make 230..

but 230 shouldnt be any problem with that set up. I would look to a better manifold other then ebay crap.

My reasoning for thinking about the S300 is that I could reuse it later on when I get around to actually building something.

If I use the p06 ecu, could I use the p06 wiring harness? The obd2 harness I have is missing the o2 sensor plug and, unless I can find a wiring diagram of the engine bay (as in which spot the wires go on the strut mount plug) I wouldn't be able to run an o2 sensor...

I've seen setups of people making more then 230 on 450cc's, so I'm gonna stick with them and see what happens.

The manifold comes with a lifetime warranty so I'm not too concerned about that either.

unless u feel like having to get the manifold rewelded every other week, i would suggest a better manifold, even a cast iron

I can't find the manifold I was looking at, but it was pretty much this... http://www.ebay.com/itm/RAM-HORN-TUR...item19cc19b8af

Doesn't come with a warranty. I confused a couple of the things I read. I was looking at a bunch of different manifolds...

that mani is garbage.

I'm running a bone stock B18b with a Evo 8 16g making 286whp on 15psi. it flows more and spools quicker than the dsm "big 16g" but should be sorta similar..

-100% stock internal JDM B18b
-Evo 8 TD05H 16g
-custom twin scroll B Series to Evo header
-Forge Motorsport internal wastegate
-ProSport MBC
-Precision 440cc injectors
-Walbro 255 fuel pump
-Hondata 4 bar map
-3" Downpipe to 3" straight pipe
-Go-Autoworks Intercooler Piping
-Spearco FMIC
-Greddy Type RZ BOV
-TPR catch can kit
-Moroso street/strip oil pan
-Blox oil adapter/sandwich plate
-Treadstone vacuum block
-Neukin radiator w/ slimfan.com
-Hasport mounts w/ U70A bushings

-GSR tranny w/ 98' Spec Type R LSD and 4.785 final drive
-Competition Clutch Stg 2

tuned by Blundar on eCtune

went 12.34 @ 112 on 240whp. ready to go 11's in 2012!

I've been seeing a lot about using the B18 distributor on the B20. What's the reasoning behind this. Is it to switch to obd1? I also have the obd2 B18 dizzy and the B20 dizzy that comes with the motor. I'll be using an obd2 to obd1 jumper harness for the ecu (p06). I believe I'll be going with an S300 for tuning simply because I want to reuse it later for a different project.

Generally people use the same OBD dizzy that corresponds with the ECU that they are running.

youre also running a custom flange for that EVO8 16g

OP they have flanges that make it possible to use a mistu turbo on a t3 flanged manifold

Is the P8R head worth an extra $200?

Not for a goal of 230whp. Any pr4/p75 will be fine.

Not true. I am running 98 EJ running OBD1 P28 on S100, LS Vtec with LS dizzy. OBD2 dizzy with OBD1 ECU.

So would I be good if I ran the P06 wiring harness, OBD2 B18 intake manifold, OBD2 B20 Distributor, OBD2 P75 and then tune on S300? Would I need an adapter to make the P06 harness work with the OBD2 dizzy? Actually... Is the S300 even compatible with an OBD2 ecu?

Yes you can run that setup for sure! you justy need a jumper harness to convert your dizzy from OBD2 to OBD1.

so let me get everything straight before I say yes lol

You have a 92-95 Civic? your gonna use your stock OBD1 PO6 Harness? OBD2 Dizzy? and OBD2 Intake manifold? if so then yes all you need is a jumper harness for the dizzy and you are all set

It's going in a 97 Integra. But yeah, P06 obd1 harness, OBD2 B20B dizzy (or the OBD2 B18 dizzy, whichever would be best), OBD2 B18 intake manifold, and the OBD2 P75 ecu.

To run a o2 sensr to your ecu isn't hard at all.
4 wires one. Is the heater conrol from the ecu the other is the o2 signal to the ecu than a 12v source and a ground. Very simple to wire up. Just go by wich obd version you have and tap the wires in. You most likely have the wires there you just need to find em.
