Anti Theft code w/ no serial number

Anti Theft code w/ no serial number
I have a Honda Accord 2008 ELX w/ standard radio (no nav). Battery recently died and had to be recharged.
Since then, radio does not work. Prompt to enter the anti theft code which I have, but it doesn't work. I verified with the dealer and online tool that I have the right serial number and anti theft code.
Took it to the dealer. When we hold down 1, 6 and hit power button the serial number is supposed to be displayed, however, my car says "no S/N code".
Before we rip out the radio, anyone have any suggestions?
Appreciate any help. Trying to avoid a costly repair since this isn't under warranty any more.

Re: Anti Theft code w/ no serial number
It sounds as though the previous owner had an aftermarket music player installed. Then when the car was sold, he removed it and purchased an OEM radio, but it was from another Accord.
...? Maybe?
You're in the same situation as a good friend of mine. We called the previous owner and that's what he had done.

Thanks for that. I am the original owner. It's baffling. The dealer is stumped too.
Today, I tried disconnecting the battery for awhile to see if it would "reboot" or something. No luck. Same situation.
Looks like I need a new radio.
Any recommendations for a new radio that fits well in a honda accord 08? I'd like it to use all the same buttons that are currently installed if possible so it doesn't look after market.
