95 Civic Getting bad gas mileage
I know this type of thread has probably popped up a few times but I couldnt find one where they actually fixed the problem.
I just got the car back and running about 5 weeks ago from it being down for about 3 years haha. I just put my stock motor back in and everything is stock on it except I have an AEM Short Ram and some Header I got for free. Also still have my Walbro in there. But I was still getting better mileage on my Turbo'd motors with bigger injectors haha
I'm only averaging 22mpg in town with it and I havent beat on it once, I just drive it to work and back.
I've changed the plugs and wires, I have no CEL's and the CEL light is working. No exhaust leaks before the o2. No gas leaks either.
I got the car running again so I could have a car getting good mileage. But its barely getting better than my Evo with 500whp and running e85, the Evo is way more fun and its cheaper to fill up. So lets solve this issue and actually get a thread with an answer in it

Re: 95 Civic Getting bad gas mileage
could be the fuel pump giving too much fuel seeing its meant for higher horsepower setups and has a higher feed rating compared to stock

Re: 95 Civic Getting bad gas mileage
Its not the fuel pump, I was getting better mileage with my turbo set ups (bigger injectors and this fuel pump) I'm using stock injectors now, so while the Fuel Pressure might be a little higher, it still should be getting better than my turbo'd set ups where, but its not.
When the car had an NA b16 in it, I was able to get 36 on the freeway and 29-30 in town.
When my b16 was turbo'd I was getting about 32 on the freeway and 27 in town.
On my stock D16z6 now, its getting 30 on the freeway and 22 in town. So something is definitely up. I should at least be matching the B16 gas mileage.
FWIW I had this Fuel pump in before It was turbo'd and still on my B16 and it really didnt make much difference in MPG, maybe 1 if that
