Weird metal scraping sound coming from front right wheel?
My Car: 2000 Honda Civic SiR (canadian SiR = usdm Si)
Mods: Cold air intake, slightly lowered with lowering springs on OEM struts (coils coming in Spring), and its got rear camber kits and alignment is good.
So today I got in my car and pulled out of its parking space. As I slowly drove forward and turned right I heard a sound coming from the front right wheel area. It sounded like metal on metal scraping. It lasted for about 2 seconds then happened again when I made another right turn then a left. The first time I heard this noise was about 2 months ago shortly after I replaced my rotors. I hear it maybe once every 2 weeks and it only seems to happen when driving after its been parked for a while and at slow speeds while turning. After the first time I heard this noise I jacked my front end up and tried shaking my wheels, everything was tight. While the front end was up (on jack stands) I turned the steering wheel from all the way left to all the way right and back again and nothing sounded wrong. My brother, who is a mechanic, was under the drive-shaft and said everything sounded and looked good. I'm having troubles diagnosing this issue, if anyone has suggestions please help me out. If you need any info on my car just ask and I'll try my best to answer. Thanks.

^^
Its not the wheel bearing..
I would look into loose brake pad.. Did u clean/wire brush the sliders and re-lube them along with the caliper pins? Did you accidently hit the shielding? Did u use the rotor set screws?
I would start there.

It's your rotors scraping on your heat shield.
You probably bumped it on accident and bent the edge down slightly, or didn't readjust it if you got thicker than normal rotors.
Easy confirmation: take the wheel off and spin it slowly, and watch the gap between the heat shield and the rotor. If it scrapes, you know that's the problem, and it's easy to simply re-bend it out of the way.
No offense, but just because your brother didn't see anything, doesn't mean YOU might not see something he accidentally missed.
Good luck!

Re: Weird metal scraping sound coming from front right wheel?
Maybe this will help someone out. I have an 09 Honda Civic Ex 2 door. I started hearing a metal on metal scraping noise. It was intermittent. Sometimes when I was going slow and sometimes when I was going fast. Then it started getting worse. It sounded like something was bent & scraping when I made turns or at different times. Sometimes if I turned my wheel a certain way it would stop. My conclusion... I took my car to Tire Kingdom & it was my back brakes. I knew it was the back because I could tell by the sound location. Anyway I hope this helps someone because after reading dofferent stories on these forums I never came up with a definite answer. It was always a guess so if you hear this check your brakes.
