Speedometer randomly stops working

Speedometer randomly stops working
I'm pretty sure there's a thread about this somewhere, but I want specifics.
I have a 92 Civic hatch, and all of a sudden my Odometer randomly stops working, and randomly turns back on when it wants to. Sometimes when i take bumps it goes off too. Any ideas?

Re: Odometer randomly stops working
I'm not an idiot when it comes to this **** but I'm confused with the two ( odometer / speedometer )
And it was working just fine.. for a while, and it randomly stops working all of a sudden.

Most likely your speedometer gauge is defected. This is a common problem. Find yourself another cluster and swap it.

Re: Odometer randomly stops working
Alright. i'll try that. But also, my friend just bought himself a civic too, and the dude told him that the oxygen sensor is what's causing that to happen. idk if he's talking out of his ***, or it could be possible. And any suggestions on a nice cluster?

Any cluster from a Civic 92-95 will be plug and play(including the automatic). If your Civic doesn't have the factory tachometer. This might be a good time to look for that cluster.
Sorry can't comment on the o2 sensor issue.

Title corrected.
Are you absolutely sure the odometer and tripmeter continue to work fine when the speedometer does not?
And no, a bad O2 sensor would have no effect on the speedometer.

Re: Speedometer randomly stops working
I had this problem, the circuit board went bad on the back my spedometer. I swapped one in from a used cluster, works fine didnt lose my milage or anything else. Kept the rest of my original gauges as well. I changed the VSS first being that it was 15$ and 20 minutes worth of time. Usually the culprit is a bad set of solder joints and being that I didnt want to spend time resoldering the entire circuit card, I just swapped it from another cluster that someone had botched a face covering install
