D16Z6 starts up fine, then sputters and stalls out! Help?!?
Hey Honda-Tech,
Ive got 1995 Civic LX sedan, with a D16Z6. The other day i went to install a wiring harness i was told came off of another d16, found out the hard way it didnt. Needless to say i had to put my old harness back on but now when i start my car the rpms are low (between 0-500) & it occassionally stalls. All connectors are back in place where they belong, except one. It is the connector that goes to the sensor on the back of the intake mani. I believe something may be bent in the sensor or in the connector, could this be the cause of my new found problem?? Any help in greatly appericated.

map sensor and tps are probably switched.
tps is the one on the back of the intake.
they look the same, but the wire colors are different

Thats deffinately a possibilty, ill have to look into it. Any other things i may have over looked? Also does anyone know if there is a senser attached to the stock intake tube? I found one other connector that doesnt seem to have a place, but it does extend far enough to reach my ram air intake but there is no senser on it.

the two wire sensor could go to the IAT sensor on the back of the intake, its a white sensor.
take picture and post and it will be alot easier.
i just guessed based on the fact you changed your harness.
also, check for CEL's if its a switched plug, you will have a code.
oh and grounds can cause this, i left a tranny ground loose one time and it took me an hour to figure out why my car kept dieing

did you ever attempt switching the map and tps sensor to see if it solved the problem.
you may want to try it. if you have no cel, you didn't miss any connector when reassembling.

Well i just tried switchin those two and it made the problem worse. So its not those. I really think my problem lies with that one connecter & senser in the picture. Does anyone know what it is? I believe something is damaged in that one senser preventin it from connecting, if thats the case i need to know which one it is to replace it.

Intake air temp sensor. Should throw a CEL and still wouldn't make it run like that. Is it possible you plugged the sensor for this into the idle air control valve. The wires for the intake air temp sensor should be green and red. The idle air control should have one wire that is black/yellow stripe or yellow/black stripe.

well ppl im ashamed to admit, im stumped. My brother-in-law and i spent the last couple hours swapping connectors, making sure everything is back and place but had no luck. Car still Starts, sputters & idles around 0-500 RPMs, then if given gas occassionally stalls out. Does anyone else have any possible ideas?
Here is what has been done so far:
Wiring harness swapped to mystery harness then back again (problem startd here)
Durin install of mystery harness a ground was improperly placed, was later corrected
Mixed & Matched a number of connectors & sensers (nothing has corrected the issue)
Even made sure spark plug wires are in correct places (just in case)
My brother-in-law & i have a possible theory. When the ground was accidently installed in the wrong place, i accidently fried one or more sensers. Is this possible?

Update: Took the car out around the block a few time last nite to test another theory, sadly i was wrong but did find something interestin. As stated car starts fine, idles low, if you tap on gas it stalls out. Once the car is in gear and moving, runs like a champ, pulls hard through all gears ( heres the interestin part) when downshifting the engine stalls but once car is in gear and you give it gas engine starts right back up like it nvr missed a beat. Anyone have any insight to this new development, as i am completely stumped!
