ITR vs. LS Catalytic Converter
Ok, So i know this has been covered many times in exhaust threads, but i can't seem to find the right thread that answers my question. So anyways, I have a 95 LS, I jsut bought an OEM ITR b-pipe. The flange at the b-pipe and CAT dont fit? My quesiton is, Is the ITR CAT different from the LS/GS, etc?

Re: ITR vs. LS Catalytic Converter
I dont care about flow rate. haha I tried googling it. I'm worried about the sizes. I have aN ITR B pipe but it wont fit onto my LS Cat.

what do you mean dont fit? too big? doesnt line up? what? itr pipes are bigger but the flange should work. you might have to turn the cat?

Re: ITR vs. LS Catalytic Converter
If its a USDM ITR b pipe, it would be the same length as the 94-01 LS and 00-01 GSRs. The only b pipe that was different was the 94-99 gsr due to the catalytic converter.

Re: ITR vs. LS Catalytic Converter
curious..why is a 96-99 cat different from 00-01? I know 96-99 is OBD II A and 00-01 OBD II B but did they really change the converter for the final two years of production?

Re: ITR vs. LS Catalytic Converter
It must be that they changed the flange in the OBD conversion from I->II. I know for a fact that he LS cat from a 00' LS bolts up perfectly to a 00' ITR b-pipe i've done it myself. There could just be no other reason for this not to fit besides different parts. Check the part numbers and diagrams in the Acura parts catalog, maybe that will give you some idea of what you are dealing with.

Re: ITR vs. LS Catalytic Converter
Ok, well i was too curious so i did it for you and this is what i found;
Catalytic Converters by year:
Years: '94-'95
18160-P75-A01 (HPJ360)
18160-P75-A51 (HPJ382)
They both fit models:INTEGRA 3DR LS, INTEGRA 3DR RS, INTEGRA 4DR LS, INTEGRA 4DR RS, INTEGRA 3DR LS SPECIAL, INTEGRA 4DR LS SPECIAL
Years: '96-'99
18160-P75-A11
18160-P75-A61
They both fit models:INTEGRA 3DR LS, INTEGRA 3DR LS SPECIAL, INTEGRA 3DR RS, INTEGRA 4DR LS, INTEGRA 4DR LS SPECIAL, INTEGRA 4DR RS, INTEGRA 3DR GS LEATHER, INTEGRA 4DR GS LEATHER
Years: '00-'01
18160-P72-A30
Fits models: INTEGRA 3DR GS LEATHER, INTEGRA 3DR GS-R LEATHER, INTEGRA 3DR LS, INTEGRA 4DR GS LEATHER, INTEGRA 4DR GS-R LEATHER, INTEGRA 4DR LS
Type-R
18160-P73-A00 Year: '97
18160-P73-A10 Year: '98-01
To interperet what these results say:
94-95 is OBD I
96-99 is OBD II A
00-01 is OBD II B
For each change to a new OBD number, it seems that Honda decided to give each catalytic converter a "revamp" by changing the part number and quite possibly some of the design aspects, which could include your bolt pattern which is why it might not match up on the ITR b-pipe.
hope that helps man. Goodluck

Re: ITR vs. LS Catalytic Converter
This weekend i *should*(if my ITR Axleback shows up) be bolting up an 2001 ITR B-pipe and Axle back to my 2001 LS(GS actually but its the same thing) Stock Cat...and installing a used Greddy 4-2-1 Header but thats a different discussion
Will this bolt up? The cat's from the ITR and the LS seem to have different part numbers....But physical specs....Seem impossible to find...i'd LIKE to avoid going to a muffler shop and have welding done if possible

Re: ITR vs. LS Catalytic Converter
It will fit.
Yes, itr axleback +
2" id donut gasket (if you want OEM #18229-sh3-x30 or go to the local parts store) +
itr "B" pipe +
flat 2" id (cardboard wrapped in foil) gasket, from local parts store +
LS cat +
2" id donut gasket (if you want OEM #18229-sh3-x30 or go to local parts store) +
Greddy 4/2/1 header +
header gasket ( verify that the oem header gasket is not smaller than the Greddy openings, otherwise you need the Greddy header gasket),
will line up.
When you torque the header to the head, make the bolts/nuts hand tight, then tighten them from the inside blots/nuts outward, left then right, then left then right, etc.
The torque for the oem header is 23 ft lbs, my DC 4/2/1 itr header uses torque setting of 27 ft lbs. I don't know about Greddy.

Re: ITR vs. LS Catalytic Converter
Awesome! I had found this page(For the Type-R Exhaust) Previously and ordered part number 18229-SH3-X30 for between the B-pipe and the Axle back and Part number 18393-SH3-S00 for between the B-pipe and the Cat and Part Number 18229-S04-X12 for between the Header and the Cat
I basicly ordered Every part off of this page https://www.hondapartsunlimited.com/...EXHAUST%20PIPE Except the Cat, O2 sensors, Heat shields and Down pipes
Good to know about the Flat gasket(is that the triangle shaped one?)

Re: ITR vs. LS Catalytic Converter
Yes, the triangle flat one is available at local parts stores for about $11.
For $11, you get the one with the metal on both sides, of the cardboard-like material.
When you get the #18229-s04-x12, for between the header and the cat, measure the inside diameter, or compare it to the 18229-sh3-x30. Are they both 2" id?

Re: ITR vs. LS Catalytic Converter
Good morning fellow Honda lovers, I have question regarding my catalytic converter. What brands do you recommend for a replacement CC on a all stock 96 LS? Where would I go to buy it? I just looked up the price on a oem part and they want over $700. So needless to say I will not be buying honda brand on this.
