Default Cassette player connection

Hi, I got a cassette player like this one and I want to know if I can install it in my 1999 civic with am/fm radio
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Yey01SeCLU.../s1600/014.JPG

The cassette player has a round grey connector, while my radio only has squared connectors in the back, is it possible to connect it with an adapter or something? I'm not sure if it's from a civic, crv or something else.

Thanks.

These is a wire coming out of the cassette player, it also has a female plug, the same type as the wire end.

That deck might be for the 96 to 98 models only, I think the 99 and 00 used a different plug so it is not compatible. esp if yours has the square plug.

My 96 has a round plug.

When you got the deck I assume it was used, did it come off a car or was it by itself, did the seller tell you what car it was off of?

It was at the scrapyard in a civic, a 96-98 I guess. Is there an adapter? Does the cassette player has a resale value (like 10-15$)?

I am guessing no adapter.

Only way is to get a used cassette harness (wire with square plug on both ends) for your 99 deck and cut it, then get a used harness for a 96 and cut it.

Hopefully same amount of wires and possible colors match it up.........this is a gamble.

You might be better off searching out a used 99 deck, and make sure you get the wire to hook it up.

Do you really want a cassette deck that bad?

If you really want a cassette deck, click here and scroll down but it is $134.

Wait you wanted a deck so you can run a cassette adapter for your mp3?

Here is a link for a direct input to the back of yur radio.

http://www.clubcivic.com/board/showthread.php?t=69893

There is a part number for the Pie adapter.

That may be a nice option, but it's around 50$ on the internet, not 20$.

Yes, i noticed that.

I would google various aux adapters for you car and see if there some cheaper ones.

They will sound much better than a cassette adapter though.

You can make the cassette player work. All you have to do is buy a install harness which is like $10 bucks for your car at any store like walmart, bestbuy, target etc. so you dont have to cut your car's harness. Cut the connector off the cassette player and cut a splice the wires together. Its pretty easy to cut the and splice the wires together. If you dont know how to do it than any one who has installed a cd player or any other deck could do it for you.

These decks are different, they have a round or square plug made to into the back of the factory radio.
