Default Best car battery...

Long story short I need a new battery ASAP as mine just tested half the rated cranking amps due to the battery being 7 years old now :p. I was wondering what others thought of certain batteries and their experience. So let's here it, what battery do you have and what do you think is the best?

Is it worth it for someone to spend $200 on a battery though? The CCA is the same as every other battery that is half the price.

dont be so narrow minded its not just about CCA..

A)The spiralcell design imobilizes the plates from ever touching eachother and shorting out (thats why they look like that)

B)Higher purity lead ($$) that prevents internal corrosion (less self-discharge)

C)polypropylene plastic around the battery (you can leave it on concrete and it wont drain)

D)VERY resistant to vibration (can take a beating)

E)Also sealed better so it emmits less gas (better if you relocate to the back of a hatch, like mine)

Its just overall higher grade.

Sooooo yes i do think its worth it..from experiance.

I have a yellow top and am halfway regretting it. If you park your car for any length of the time the battery will totally drain on you. My hatch has a OEM replacement battery we got from Autozone (can't remember the brand) and has been sitting for 4 weeks now, Got in it yesterday and it fired right up.

Many good car audio batteries are insanely heavy though. That yellow stinger is 57lbs!!!

i have had no bad experience with yellowtops ever. in my old GSR i had the sound system and all and my yellowtop could handle it no problem. and with my eg coupe, i accidentally left the headlights on, so i turned them off, waited an hour or 2 and started right back up!

If you need a batt. to replace the stock one, go with Interstate, I have had mine for 7 years now, stay away from any "Gel" cell type batt., we replace those, when defective and still within lifespan of batt., more often then all other batt. combined. 94

Gell cell batteries do look good on paper though meaning they cannot spill and they take abuse. Optima are overpriced and I hear the quality has really gone down and that batteries don't last. If I get an Odyssey battery IDK how you would return it if it goes dead under the 3 year warranty. My AutoCraft silver lasted 7 years but do I really want to replace it with the same type of battery?

I'm a fan of any non-serviceable battery, i.e. sealed. The older designs with the removable tops to refill cells tend to leak. If you ask me its not worth the corrosion of the battery tray and cables to go with one of these batteries. Leaking batteries can cause alot of damage if they go unchecked. Who cares what brand. Most are made by one of only 3-4 companies anyways. Besides whens the last time you popped the caps off to add mixture to a low cell.

I just want to spend the cash once rather than go I should have boughten that. I know some excellent batteries all the car audio people run around here. They are purple, IDK the name. However they weigh over 50lbs! Maybe I am too weight conscious over something that weighs 20lbs more than what I have. I guess the car being so weight sensitive I try to save weight where possible. I figure I added enough weight with big brakes, braces, swaybars... airbags are the next thing to come out.

Been rocking a gold advance auto battery going on 2yrs now. I brought a yellow top last year for my dd and no lie a big waste of money I use to take the car to meets and use to leave my signals on n it use to die quicky in my other car my gold aa with my signals no radio on no probs.

And before someone say it was a bad optima I replaced it twice under warranty. Best bet oem its a proven battery, all these new bs batteries is a waste. If it aint broken leave it a $80 battery is just as good as a $200

It is without a doubt getting worse and worse by the week. Slow crank isn't the word, the car barely, just barely turned over to start tonight. I always had a passenger and made sure I backed in on the highest spot in case a push start was necessary. I can't even jam out to my music otherwise the head unit shuts off and restarts. I hear this happens when the battery is less than 12 volts to protect the amp. So the drive home I gave her some pulls figuring higher revs would charge the alternator more? lol and I left my music off.
