Default D16y7 Tranny leak/clutch questions

I have a 1997 D16y7 5 speed with 200k miles, Its leaking oil onto the clutch making it slip at any rpm past 4k, through probably the rear main. and I am losing quite a bit of transmission fluid and I'm fairly sure I narrowed it down to a drip off a seal on the tranny.

Picture here http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...154608851.jpg/
Left side of the pic is the passenger side of the car

My main questions..
1. Is the rear main the only way oil can get onto the clutch in these cars?
2. what is the name of the 2 gaskets that the drips are coming from??
3. what clutch should I get for a stock D16y7 except for bolt ons like exhaust, headers and intake??

Here's some links to what I was looking at, feel free to link any others you recommend

That sucks, all I see is my oil dripping out xD I've tried tightening the bolts on that side, most of them tightened, but one seemed to be striped, could I just put some rtv sealant on it to seal up the leak and solve my problem?

On the right side by the drip, there's a gap in the bell house, like I can stick my finger tip in it... is that normal?? I'm thinking its not..

I also have a scraping and little clunking noise when I make a sharp left turn coming from the passenger's side of the car when what could that be?

Post more pics and different angles. Did you tighten your tranny drain bolt? It fits a 3/8" drive ratchet. Could also be your oil pan gasket, it's really hard to tell from the one picture you posted

Get an Exedy stage 1 clutch or oem replacement, bolt on's aren't gonna do much for your y7. Make sure you get your flywheel resurfaced when you install the new clutch. How do you know it's the oil dripping that's making your clutch slip? Could just be your clutch slipping and you happen to have an oil leak as well

I put UV dye in my oil and the only drip is right on that seal on the bell house on the bottom of the engine, no where else..

I'm going to toss the other UV dye I have here into the transmission to be sure that's where its leaking from.. I cleaned the engine/transmission bottom today so ill take some pics after its cleaned and dripping.

If you are losing transmission fluid that is contaminating the clutch, then the oil seal for the transmission input shaft is leaking or the transmission is cracked.

I am not certain that it is transmission fluid, as I know the transmission is leaking from a seal below the drain plug, and the input shaft bearing is grinding/scraping too if that helps any

Sounds like it's time to replace the input shaft bearing and oil seal.

My uncle is doing the repair for me, what parts should I ask for at my local parts store? seal wise, I don't know squat for their names, could you name the seals that could possibly be leaking oil onto my clutch from the engine and tranny or any other I should replace while I'm in there??

To be honest I am not 100% sure there is oil on my clutch, the fact that I learned to drive stick in a Honda with 200k might have done it in.. but what I am sure of is the oil dripping from the bell house where the clutch is, verified by UV dye, and I was losing a descent amount of oil until I added lubro moly oil saver which swells seals and raises the VI of the oil.

You wont be able to get the input shaft seal or bearing at a parts store, both have to be ordered through Honda. Axle seals can I believe. Check the rest of the bearings in the transmission, the outer countershaft bearing frequently goes bad as well. I'd also stake the inner countershaft bearing on the bell housing side with a center punch, they have a tendency to walk out and cause problems with 2nd gear popping out.

So I take it I have to also get the rear main seal from Honda too...

to my knowledge there is no mtf entering the clutch area, after the UV dye, its just leaking out of the seal under the drain plug.

more pics

On the list of stuff I need to get...
rear main seal
input shaft bearing
input shaft seal
exedy OEM clutch kit

anything else i should replace while im in there?

and whats the name of the white seal leaking all of the red fluid (Redline MTF)?? I've tried tightening it but it doesn't get any tighter, maybe stripped bolts???

IMOit would be easier to just get an used transmission for $150 than take everything apart

I looked at that route, but I cant seem to find any locally, that works better than the one I have, and to add another 150 to the cost is something i'd rather not do. besides my uncle is doing the work .

But if you know where to get a good one at that price i'd be interested..

Found this one about 100 miles away http://fargo.craigslist.org/pts/2346779884.html worth taking a look at?? and are the gear ratio's the same in the dx and lx tranny?
