Default 97 Civic 2DR EX Auto PCM

I am troubleshooting a re-occurring CEL that keeps coming back on my daughter's Civic and I am at a point in the service manual where I need to swap out the PCM for a known good unit. I looked up the part number online at a few different Honda OEM parts sites and they all state the PCM should be 37820-P2P-A83. My confusion is that 37820-P2P-336 is what's in there now.

To further confuse me, 37820-P2P-A83 has a list price of $1189.82 and 37820-P2P-336 has a list price of $661.73. (I'm not buying a new one, but want to make sure I get the correct used unit for her car)

Which one do I get, 37820-P2P-336 or 37820-P2P-A83?

37820-P2P-336 is discontinued and was replaced by 37820-P2P-A83. There's a couple of other numbers as well. Any '96 - '98 Automatic P2P ECU will work though.

So the 37820-P2P-336 is discontinued and was replaced by 37820-P2P-A83? I did some more searching and just found a service bulletin stating the opposite (if I'm reading it correctly).

Searching for 37820-P2P-336RM on hondapartsnow shows it's been replaced by the 27820-P2P-336 here:

http://www.hondapartsnow.com/genuine...P2P-336RM.html

Since the A83 version is the easier to find used than the 336 or 336RM versions and any 96-98 P2P will work, I'll get the A83. I just wanted to make sure I was getting the correct one.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it!
