99 Civic bogging down please help!!
Hey guys how's it going? I'll try to make this as descriptive as possible. My car has been running like a champ until about a week ago. The motor still runs strong but an issue I can't quite pinpoint....Whenever I give it above the average amount of gas it bogs down and the check engine light will flicker on and off. The car hasn't shut off on me while driving but it still is bizarre to me how when I give it gas it just bogs and goes nowhere. The car has 127k miles but I maintain it flawlessly! I just don't understand why this is happening I thought Hondas lasted forever : \

Re: 99 Civic bogging down please help!!
im new to this forum, but im no expert mechanic but ive had my experience with cars and whatnot. from the way your describing it, it sounds like it could be a problem with your TPS (throttle position sensor) shorting out or maybe your engine isnt getting enough air through your intake thus causing the bogging. had something similar with my chevy cavalier and my air filter was packed full of dirt and sand. something you might want to look into, but as i said im no expert haha.

So the CEL flickers when it happens. Did you try and pull a code? When was the last time a full tune up was done? Change air filter?

Fixed the issue last night. My dad took it for a drive and said it was the spark plugs....Went and got the spark plugs gapped them .40...threw those bad boys in and runs like a champ now. Cheapest fix I ever had to do haha thanks guys. Thank god for my dad

Mines doing the same. I have a 97 ex and just recently my car started to bog as if it was dying. Maybe it needs new spark plugs? Also I never did a full tune-up on it, and if you can tell me how much it would cost?
Also how do I put a car in my garage? im new to this honda-tech thing
