Take everything apart on the timing belt side and see how the tensioner looks. The belt may have stretched over time as well, who knows!?

Your belt should not bend no more or no less than 90 degrees when tightened properly

If it just loosened randomly, park it and go order yourself a new timing belt, water pump, and tensioner

Agreed. Don't want to f*@k up the motor over a loose timing belt.

tightening it only involves rotating the camshaft sprockets 3 teeth counterclockwise, by rotating from the crank pulley, then tightening the tensioner bolt(it has to be loosened, but not removed beforehand). The spring for the tensioner, and the tension that will be created by rotating 3 teeth is what the timing belt tension should be.

Not trying to bash, but think if you were a beginner and never did a timing belt,

^Haha got it. Cliffs:

*open hood.
*if you have cruise control, that box needs to be moved. (3) 10mm bolts.
*remove (2) 12mm bolts holding timing belt cover on.
*loosen(but dont remove) 14mm nut for tensioner. google to find where it is.
*use 19mm socket to turn crank pulley bolt counterclockwise until you see that the cam gears have rotated 3 teeth.
*tighten 14mm tensioner bolt
*at this point you can check the tension by twisting it as mentioned above.
*replace cover

rmember to priperly torque the 14mm tensioner bolt to 43ftlb. im not joking its a lot more torque than you think it is, and you will punch yourself for not torquing it down properly when your belt comes loose and bends all 16 valves
