I think that is the European name or at least not the US name correct?
They really are Wagovans but are also known as Shuttle and wagon and possibly station wagon to some folks.
There is actually a factory logo on the back that says "Wagovan".

From the Wikipedia:
Wagons:
Most 1984-1987 Honda Civic parts are interchangeable across model years, including engines, transmissions, interior seats, dash components, brakes, etc.
In 1986, the Civic got flush-mounted headlights.
The DX and 1500S model hatchbacks shared the new 1500 cc engine with the sedan, wagon, and CRX 1.5. The 1500S model achieved over 50 mpg-US (4.7 L/100 km; 60 mpg-imp) highway.
The wagon was available in front-wheel drive; and in 1985 and later a part-time any-speed four-wheel drive, operated by a push button on the dash, became available.[citation needed] The four-wheel drive transmission also introduced a low-speed granny gear which could only be engaged in four-wheel drive.
In 1987, the four-wheel drive system on the wagon was changed; a new Real-Time four-wheel drive system featured an automatic viscous coupling that shifted power to the rear wheels automatically when needed. Real Time 4WD models are recognizable by the charcoal grey center covers, covering the lug nuts which were exposed on FWD models.[citation needed]

Welcome to the world of wagovans. Just saw this. Wish I had more time to make a thorough post, as I have learned a great deal through my build over the last two years. Just read my thread for my wagovan project here. I'm sure you will learn a lot. I had to learn everything the hard way, as (has been said in this thread) little information/documentation is readily available on the net for these. Ultimately, you need to come over to redpepperracing.com and join. The guys there are very helpful. Best of luck! My build:

hello. I am new to messing around with hondas, I have recently aqquired a 1991 civic ef sedan that is my project car now. I will be installing a single v z6. anyways why I am posting to here is that I had seen a shop that swaped the wagovan awd drivetrain into an ef hatch and it was pretty cool. I am not going to do that or at least not now but I was wondering if that is possible to put that same deal into an ef sedan? I would think it should work but I dont know how much fab work was put into that hatch for it to work. but I do think that a awd ef sedan slammed on some og oldskools with good suspention would be dope but thats just me. so does anyone have any ideas on that note? would it be worth it?

funny that your posting your 89 in the pre 88 forums, i like my 87, if you have a 88-91 wagon, you don't know the problems we have, so please just don't post here.

Um.. My last honda civic "wagon" had a factory emblem that said WAGOVAN, and I just bought another one tonight and I'm guessing it has the same thing on the back passenger side (i would go look, but it's dark and the wind goblins are out). I will always call it a wagovan, because the spoiler kinda lifts up and "wags" when you hit a certain speed (around 150 mph). Oh and that's also when the v-tech kicks in. Yeah, crazy, I know. I should get some sleep.... zzzzzzzzzzzz

Man this thread is hurting for some info! Here's something (not much lol)

Wagovan is actually a trim. It was the most basic wagon. It has the bar across the rear window. All others are just Honda civic wagons. DX and 4wd

My brother-in-law tried how fast a '87 Shuttle could go on a highway... he managed to drive 160 km/h (~100 mph) with it until he had to slow down

Haha, I never tried topping out one, but I could go 90 no problem with a 89 stock wagovan I had last summer.

"Wagovan" is actually a trim level for the most base model Civic wagon. It's like a "STD" or "CX" model, and is not correct terminology for all Civic Wagons.

A few differences off the top of my head:

Wagovan - vinyl seats, rear seat folds down as one bench style seat, horizontal bars of rear 1/4 glass
Wagon DX/RT4WD - cloth seats, rear seats split fold, no bars on 1/4 glass

Yes you can see "Wagovan" on a civic wagon, but again it's a trim level description.

So in closing:

All Wagovans are Civic wagons
NOT all Civic wagons are Wagovans

I've got my own Civic wagon, a 1990 2WD DX w/B18B1 swap...click the link in my sig to see it.
