ok i have a 97 honda civic dx all stock besides short ram intake. 5-speed and when i started driving it it drove fine but when it warmed up it seemed like it was overheating or something, it might needs a new 3rd gear synco. if im just parked and letting it idle its fine but if i give it some gas it hesitates and then dies if i keep my foot on the gas. sorry if this is hard to understand but im trying to explain it the best i can.

overheating? did the temp gauge climb? Are you throwing any code?

i need help i was trying to sell it but this happened, it worked fine 2 weeks ago.

no it didn't so yeah i guess it's not overheating it just has a weird smell, i was thinking water got in the intake manifold.

anybody else have an idea what it could be happening?

another thing i was thinking it could have just frozen the water because the gas tank was pretty empty but i don't know if that is the problem or not?

i have the same problem except with a D15Z1 stock with a short ram, my car stays on in idle but dies when i get into gear and accelerate, try checking the fuel system like the pump, pressure, or filter, that's what people told me to check on my thread

fill your gas tank then..


when you give it gas, does it rev up, then when you let off, it dies? or it dies as your revving it?

if you blip the throttle, and it idles lower than it should that almost stalls, you could try cleaning you iacv and throttle body..

new problem to me, but in for updates.. good luck

well with mine i don't have in any gear i just let it warm up to the mid marker and if i tap on the gas it dies but if put my foot on the gas harder it doesn't die so it only dies when i tap on the gas and it's been warmed up for a while, and it now has 3/4 tank full of gas, thanks guys.

check ur plugs n wires? just somthing to look at and count out.
a fouled out plug wont be able to spark and burn more fuel when u press the gass. so it floods and dies.

im not sure if it floods cause i can start it up again after but im replacing the fuel filter today so i hope that could be the problem, it needs to be replaced anyhow.

did you unplug you map and your tps for any reason? cause if they got switched it would cause the problem u are having
