Default b20/gsr information thread?

wasnt exactly sure how to title this. but basically im new to building engines and wanted to have some discussions with more knowledgable people before i started tearing **** about..

i wish i new more about what was on the car, but i cant get a hold of the old owner so im going by what i can see..

i've got a b20b4 block out of a crv, gsr head and gsr tranny.. i was told it was rebuilt 4k ago, and by the looks of the head it was.. its looks like there some burnt oil on the head around some spark plug holes but i'll deal with that another time.. i know it has a full exhaust and headers, a VERY short ram intake and upgraded injects..

anyway, i wanna tear the head off and do some work with it.. i want more power out of the thing, but my number one concern is reliability, thats definitely a must.. there really isnt much of a budget since im working two jobs and not going to school until next year so why not?

so where would be a good spot to start? pistons? rods? cams? do arp head studs really make a difference? let me know!

It's not even worth ten dollars... But I'll pay for the shipping to my place
lol that's the build I plan on doing in about a year.
I was planning on a full rebuild:
pistons/rings
bearings
connecting rods
hone the block

I would just do that for reliability and you can still have fun with that gsr head.
I would say that's about $600 worth of parts/labor (not sure exactly lol)

but if you can afford plenty more:

port polish the head
stage 2 n/a cams
titanium springs/retainers
valves

that's probably about $1400

sorry if you already knew this but i try to put this everywhere just in case someone knows better than me and that's not very hard lol

didnt know at all, so no need to apologize..

if we have a honing tool i'll definitely look into that more and see what can be done.. i dont think theres much need to port/polish since it's been done less than 5k miles ago but other than that, there's some stuff i can start looking into, thanks!

yeah no problem.
I would probably look into bisimoto parts.
oh and lightweight flywheel with heavy duty clutch
TURBO!!!!! with a good, reliable manifold ( with the opening for the wastegate up where all the ports meet rather than just one cylinder)
and the regular intake, header, exhaust lol

forgot that part, it has a stage 3 clutch and 11lbs flywheel.

i'd like to turbo eventually, but by no means am in a rush to get it done..

the short ram on it is literally just a filter on the intake mani, a buddy of mine told me i shouldn't run it like that, its TOO short, what do you think of that? if its beneficial, i'll keep it, if not, whale ***** here we come haha

hmm, I would think that's burnt oil also, though not sure if that's even going to hurt your engine unless fresh oil sticks to it.. and I don't think it exactly hurts it with just a filter but I read in some recent thread on here that you lose some low end with short ram..

I really want to post this as a thread but there really isn't any real tech to it:
I'm out of town here in WI for national guard drill, and stopped at the local walmart for some delicious ben and jerry's. Some n00b in a neon pulled up right where I parked and opened up his hood acting like he knew what was going on. :D
One of his spark plug wires won't stick but I asked him if anything was wrong and he said some words. I almost laughed when looked at his interior:
It's an automatic! lol and his plans for his engine bay include a crap ton of chrome and spray painting his IM blue..
ahhh oh and a body kit that he busted running into a curb or sidewalk...
sorry I just really wanted to get that out.
