Replacing Valve Cover Gasket
Hello all,
I'm about to dive into the replacement of my 92 Accord's valve cover gasket and was wondering if there was anything I should know or do before I take everything apart. I bought a kit that has all the extra little gaskets and grommets and the like. Since the gasket is rubber, do I still need to use any RTV? If so where would I place it on the gasket. I have a tube of Ultra Black, but I've been told to use Ultra Grey on Honda's. Does it matter? What would be the best way to clean what little oil has leaked out off of the cylinder head? Thanks for any suggestions and have a great day.

after removal of the valve cover, remove all traces of the old gasket, but don't scratch anything. once you have the old gasket off, clean the mating surfaces with solvent and let dry. install the 4 tube seals with a little silicone, install the new gasket into the groove in the cover so that it's in its final position, then lift one end at a time and apply silicone gasket to the inside corners of the gasket on each end. then apply some to the outside of the 4 corners and install on the head, torquing the nuts to spec. let it cure for a couple hours before running the engine.

the PCV valve in the valve cover grommet vents the crankcase back into the intake manifold. the vacuum in the intake manifold should be present in that hose.

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking, but you shouldn't have the oil cap off with engine running anyway. You will get oil spray through the filler hole.

Hello, Does anyone know what the 4 o-rings in a valve cover set are for? I have 4 tube seals and 4 o-rings that are also listed as tube seals. Cannot find any info on the o-rings placement.
Thanks

If you have an F22B2 there are upper and lower tube seals. the upper tube seals are in the valve cover and the lower O-ring style seals are located near the bottom of the tubes, between the rocker assembly and cylinder head. To replace these seals you need to remove the rocker assembly.
