please suggest stereo upgrade for 2010 Civic
I have a 2010 Civic Coupe DX-G with the basic stereo system.
The sound is well below average. While I'm not what you'd call an "audiophile", I do know a nice stereo when I hear it.
I don't want to replace the radio itself because that seems like too much trouble and because it's a lease. But I'm wondering if replacing the speakers with could make a big difference?
My questions are:
1. Am I wasting my time just replacing the speakers?
2. Please suggest speakers I should listen to; I want clarity, not loudness.
3. What size speakers go in a 2010 Civic Coupe DX?
4. What's the power and quality of the built in stereo so when I go to a store I can listen to speakers using something comparable?
Thanks for any and all help!

The sound is not well below average as you say. You bought a DX what type of stereo were you expecting? Don't bother with speakers you will barely notice a difference. You need to upgrade the head unit.

The question now is how best to go about improving the sound quality. I hate the idea of replacing the head unit because I prefer the integrated look of the original factory stereo.
Any idea who the manufacturer is of the Honda stereo and speakers?

These are sound processors for your model. They clean up the signal and prior to adding amplifiers if you are hell bent on staying with the stock head unit. Recievers are pretty cheap and way better than stock head units and you get free dash kits from crutchfield when you buy head units and they don't look bad at all.

This is something I'm very seriously looking into. It's a lot but I love the OEM look. Looks a lot better than the Nav that comes as an option in the 8th gens.

That is a lot for a nav unit, but it does integrate into the dash better than OEM.
I'll save the nav for the next car however.

I have a 2010 civic sedan, needless to to say the quality is not even work putting in the car as a factory radio. I kept the head unit and changed all speakers to Rockford Fosgate and also added a 400 watt rockford power amp. Spent $1200 with install and noticed a major difference. I'm still looking for complete quality. Should changing the head unit make a big difference?
