Default inhaling metal dust daily.....

I'm in welding school, and ever since I started ive had black snot, obviously from prepping/grinding metal. especially now since im on SMAW pipe so I have to grind down the root and whatnot. Whats the long term effects of this? I'm sure anyone in the trade that doesnt use a respirator has this issue........

Lung cancer

No excuse not to wear a respirator at this point. You can find some low profile ones that fit under a welding mask.

x2 get a good respirator not the cheap ones.

I grind graphite almost everyday and have it all in my nose. Its pretty damn gross. Black boogers.

I use these and love them. They are very comfortable and last a long time too. I use them for grinding and when welding stainless steels (due to a bout I had with Hexavalent Chromium a couple years ago).

Research has show that the fumes from molten stainless tend to have only one of the two know affects. First is a violent, instantaneous death and the 2nd is a dramatic increase in ***** size. Best of luck.
