What engine will fit an 94-97 Accord?
My friend is looking for a used Accord then swap out the engine.
Our first choice would be H22A, but will the 98+ ones fit in a 94-97 Accord?
and is it more difficult and less reliable than the older H22A?
Also, will the stock Accord Transmission handle the engine well or do I need to change the tranny as well?
Last but not least, will there be any LSD options on the H22A?

Damn with that many post u would think that a search would've been done. It has to be the most talk about subject for accords but anyway. Any year H22a will fit in the 94-97 accord. Just make sure that the engine u're putting is the same year or newer than the car u're putting it into. Well as for tranny u can use the accord or the prelude but i mean if u're swapping the engine why not just put the prelude tranny while u're at it. There's an LSD option for the H22a quaife baby. Anyway all your questions would be better answered in the hybrid section or actually the search button can do wonders too aight.

I did to a search, but none were specifically aimed at which H22A

boost the f22
btw your friend's accord is ex? vtec?

Basically, I am pulling him away from street drag into Autox and Circuit racing. So we might go the route of NA with nice suspension setups. Power add-on will be only I/H/E for now, rest on brake/suspenion/tires.

how could you not find a thread refering to a h22, that is the subject like at least once every other day.
keep your f22 and boost. for all motor buy a h22.

There are H22 all over indeed. But I need to know "which" H22.
There is the 190hps and the 220 JDM ones. I need to know their differences.
Again, no boosting...NA only. So, JDM H22A 5th Gen Prelude one would be my best choice? Is it really at 220hp at the crank?

If you're not going to boost, i wouldn't recommend the accord tranny, eventhough it will fit fine with the prelude. the shorter gears of the preludes will be better for all motor.
also, what year accord is it, because 97+ (maybe 96, i don't know...) Accords are OBDII.

In that case, I'll look specifically for a OBDII Accord, although there are some modified OBD I harness that can yield some power....
Anyway, an engine swap nor FI will definetly be in Street Modified...but he's not trying to be competitive but just to have fun with it.

I'm pretty sure the wiring won't be much of an issue. You will need the 93 exhaust manifold and down pipe. Also the complete 93 intake manifold and throttle body.
Wiring really depends on the type of coil setup you have. Whether or not they are both the same, ie internal or external coil.

Re: What engine will fit an 94-97 Accord?
Well well well
another 10 years and another enthusiastic person trying to bring something back from the dead
currently have a 97 ex-r which I’m guessing is made in Canada from what I’m reading
trying to decide what to work on first
it has 187k and definitely rusted under so I’m guessing fuel and brake lines first then maybe a pump to accommodate what I need to do what I want it to do
any recommendations on rear axles?
Swapping trannis to accommodate?
currently I believe I have a f22 motor but I’m going to check the VIN when I get it
I read the thread and head of boosting it but definitely going to look for a lower mileage motor to drop in maybe something in th k from what I’m hearing
just don’t know what a k went into to start looking
eventually I want to make it a tuner I can drive to work everyday and maybe hit some acceleration while going 5th gear already
Perhaps tearing down this one and swapping cams and pistons if the tubing is good?
Thank you in advance

if you boost the f series there has to be a new bottom end replacement with new rods, pistons, etc and thats easier to build the h22 while its still out than to pull your current motor and build it when adding g a turbo. Sometimes its all about whats easier and quicker.
