96 accord rumbling howling noise
Hello ...
My 1996 5spd Accord makes a low pitch howling-rumbling type of growl that is noticeable above 30-35 mph and increases with speed. In parking lot, the engine sound is smooth, and doesnt increase much with revving up.
- At high speeds, I have put into neutral, low RPM - sound persists.
- At high speeds, in neutral, I rev up the engine - sound persists.
In both cases, no change in sound, it is only dependent on speed.
Got my wheel bearings checked by a mechanic and they are fine. He could not take it for test ride as he was closing. (I got my muffler fixed today, so now I am able to hear all the other nosies!)
What next?

Its gotta be a bearing. I'm thinking its an Input Shaft bearing? but it can still cause an howling noise even if you're in the parking lott though. Just my guess.
