Default 2002 Cr-V Idle problem

Heres the situation, i have a 2002 crv lx. I just replaced the head and now the idle surges from 1200 to 2200 when in park and neutral. The coolant gauge is showing it over heating. Where do i bleed the air form the coolant system, and what could be the cause of the surging idle issue. Thanks in advance. let me know if you need any more information.

The way i bleed coolant systems is I leave the radiator cap off and let the engine run for 15-20 min, and as it warms up you can see the bubbles start to come out. Ive done it this way every time and never had a problem. Your high idle looks like it could be a vacuum leak. Since you replaced your head, are you sure all your vacuum hoses are in the right place? Did you use a new intake manifold gasket when you reinstalled the intake manifold?

Why did you have to replace your head? Cuz i just bought a 02 crv and this post got me a little worried, cuz I know the 1st gen crvs had the problem with valves been burned and needing replacment.

I used all new gaskets, and used some ether to seek out any vacuum leaks, no luck though. I will check again. The valve retaining washer broke in half, bent the valve. I would say just make sure your valves are adjusted. My friend said he heard a ticking sound from teh valvetrain before.

Thanks for the bleeding technique.

I pulled the codes yesterday and they are p0505, p1077, p1505 and p1167. After a couple minutes of the high irratic idle, it goes into a short choppy irratic idle bouncing rapidly up and down a 300 rpm span. I checked for vacuum leaks and there are none. I have access to mitchell ondemand and i am trying to find some time to run some tests. What are the chances the IAC is faulty, and is it cleanable like other honda models?

ok, I would like to help everyone else out.
1505 and 505 The IAC is likely sticking open and needs to be cleaned.
I sprayed carb cleaner in the opening and let it sit for a bit.
Then sprayed it after starting.
A couple tries and everything is running perfectly now.
If that doesn't work you likely have an issue with the IAC.
It is also likely causing the other codes.

I had this situation on my accord, it was due to the Air Control Valve, sits behind the intake manifold
