Default 8th Gen civic engine options

is the new 1.8 sohc still a d-series engine or is it something new?

Their new motors named R18A1's.

Not as easily as you could swap a D15, and why would you want to anyway?

plus, you have much more aftermarket support/tuning if you go with different engines rather than the fairly new r18

I agree, then again there is nothing wrong with exploring new concepts. Why not stick with a GSR swap and boost??

Beside a TSI R18 turbo kit only produces around 200whp depending on the tune. You can make more than that with other motor swaps.
