So on my girlfriends Scion Tc, the ac wasn't performing well, so i checked to see if it neede refrigerant, and it did..So i picked up one can of EZChill r134a...Following careful instructions, i did as it said and pressure should of been between 45-55 psi ( was about 85 degrees out). While i kept shaking up the can, and giving few burst of the freon, i kept it at 55 psi..Then i got in the car to see how it felt..only to notice that it was blowing warm air, on max AC..so i went back out to check the psi and it was near 70 psi...I never worked with ac before so i have no clue on what to do next, can i just remove some from the "low" pressure side same way as i added it? I know its very bad to have such high psi so i know not to use the AC for now..Thanks

70 PSI is not high, if on high side, it is very high if on low side, an over charge will result in poor cooling and high high side pressure, [head pressure] 200 PSI on the high side is getting high.

The only real way to charge an A/C system with the proper amount of refrigerant is to recover what is left in the system and then recharge with the proper amount.

"Bumping", [adding refrigerant] to get the correct charge can be done but is best done with a proper set of gauges and a recharge cylinder.

With that said, it can be done with the DIY type of kit you have but much care is needed.

Questions...
Was the A/C working, [compressor turning on] just not blowing real cold air, before you tried the bump?

Is the compressor turning on now?

What year is the Scion? 94

it's a 06 Tc, the ac was blowing fine, just wasn't like really nice and cold....So i checked and it was like 40 psi while the diy kit said it should be 45-55psi..I think i wasn't be careful enough and just added too much..And it still kicks on but not really cooling much right now..

If it still "kicks on" but not cooling then you have indeed overcharged the system, you will need to recover some of the refrigerant.
When we do a "bump up" we add refrigerant in 1/4 oz increments, an ounce can make a big diff. 94

Thanks fcm...So how do i remove some? Can it be done the way i added it through the low side?

You would have to recover it, but that would require a recovery pump and recovery tank, although I do not recommend it, without recovery equipment all you can do is release it "into a bucket" by pressing the shrader valve, [like letting air out of a tire]. 94

thanks..I'll have to use the bucket method lol.. i actually did the first time i realized pressure was so high, but when pressing the shrader valve, it was making a mess,even if you have a bucket or something to catch the freon, it's still really messy.. and then i figured i should ask what to do before just releasing some out...Thanks alot fcm..appreciate your advice

It's messy because some oil will come with it, a rag around the service port will help.

BTW R134a is a vapor/gas when not under pressure, so don't be surprized when there is nothing in the bucket.94
