I have a d16z6 in my si and was wondering how mutch the tranny would take. Are the raitos the same? I put 17" weeles on mine and it slowed it down...... 1/8 mi track. I would like to find a bolt-in tranny with some beef that would give my final Back. what about you,

What is the reason for the change did your z6 not hold up?

na i bought the car with a auto to manual swap and the wrong tranny mounts were used. after the axle popped out a few times and screwed things up and got replaced (the axle was replaced twice so far) the right mount was put in and the problem still persisted. my mechanic said i would be best off getting a new tranny.

The ratios are the same. The y8 is stronger because the shift forks in the z6's are cast aluminum and may break in the middle of your 1-2 shift at the race track and cause you to run a 30sec quarter. The y8 uses steel shift forks. There are other minor differences between the 2 so the better shift forks dont fit the older trannys. The shortest geared d-series tranny I found is the del sol si tranny. My old one used to wind out faster than my current z6.

D series tranny god here.............

Only difference gearing wise is 5th gear.
92-95 Civic Si and Sol Si got .750 5th, everything else got .702 5th gear.

Check the link in my sig.......
