You will not be able to get just a face plate from your local audio shops, unless they have one from a damaged HU, you will need to order in the face plate, however it will cost almost as much as a new HU.
I would check with your local install shops to see if they have a salvaged one, at our shop we have a box full of them, give me a make and model of the HU and if I have one I will be more then happy to send it to you.94

Then remove the upper console trim, that will get you access to the 2 screws that hold the radio housing in place, remove them.

If HU was installed properly there will also be some kind of back support.

Make and model of HU will be printed on a sticker on bottom of HU. 94

yep, there should be a label on the hu. The reason the faceplates are so expensive is because if they were say 20 bucks, then that would defy the whole purpose of removing it in car to deter theft, because then they would steal it anyways and for a cheap price get a new faceplate.

Hey meng I see that you said you have a bucket full of faceplates at your job. I was wondering if you have any faceplates for a Pioneer DEH-P7800MP or the DEH-P780MP i think they are both the same. Thanks

alright so i checked pulled my HU out and checked it. it's a SONY CDX-L550X. i checked pacparts.com (thanks b16a1eg6) and the faceplate is like $136. lol forget that.

well i have a HU from my other ef, so i pulled it out and was gonna swap it in. it's a KENWOOD KDC-MP208. it was all going good until i came to the outlet where the fuse and wire harness connect to. the outlet on the SONY is bigger than the KENWOOD. so the wire harness in my car will not plug into the KENWOOD. im stuck and don't know what to do. i think it's kind of obvious but just wanted to check up with you guys. i obviously need the KENWOOD wire harness right? lol how would i take take the wire harness off?
