Default car jerks

previously i had this problem where my car only jerk from 1500-about 1700rpm though 1-3 gears, that mysteriously went away. now im having an issue where it jerks while im driving. i can take off fine, go thru all gears, then about 5 mins. driving it will start jerking back and forth, almost like it's starving for gas. i have fuel. i know how to drive, what could this be?

I'd say check your fuel filter, prolly gummed up. also doesnt hurt to do a full tune up.

ight. can someone help me out here. thing is im a lil bit limited on cash, so i wann try to pin point wat the highest possibilty of it is first. as i was drving, i went first up to 2200 rpm, shift second, felt a lil bit of bog(falling on it's face feeling) but picked up, went up to 2000 rpm shifted 3rd, and then it jus completely fell on it's face, took about 5 seconds for it to pick up again. and if i keep goin in some severe cases, i have to stop, go back to first, and go thru the gears until it happens again. is this more likely.....fuel related, ignition related (plugs/wires), maybe dizzy?, others?

maybe you should try taking it further...to like 4000k 1-4.....and then see if it jerks at all.....
my homie had a similar problem and it was his fuel filter....just needed cleaning.....

UPDATE:
i was driving/testing, and tried passing 3000rpm in second, the car wud not let me, it started dying out around 2500rpm. so i figured jus keep the pedal smashed down, hoping it wud pick up, but it doesn't, it goes down and feels like it's gonna choke/die out. but i heard something while this was happening, it let out a kinda big pop from the exhaust, like bad a/f ratio pops(i think). that said, can anybody give me a starting point as to where i shud start first. and my gauge doesn't really work, the gas or mph don't work, but i remember i have seen the check engine light come on before...it's not on now tho.

sorry for not posting all these updates together. car was at idle, i depressed the gas pedal the way down, got up to 5krpm, let off and hit the gas again, car stuttered and wud not pass 3krpm, so i continued depress the pedal, and the car went almost to a shut off point, as soon as i let off the gas pedal, it picks up to 2k rpm, before it goes to a normal idle.cud this be a fuel filter, or jus a fuel clog. i don't have an aftermarket intake, but i removed the bottom trap while i was doing some work earlier.

your timing could be off, mine acted like that when i first installed my motor and it was timing issues. my friend hit a hard bump his timing belt jump a tooth and did the same thing.did you hit any unusal large bump lately? if you know how to do it... i would say check it out. timing adjustment would only take around an hour or so when we did it. good luck

i was worried bout that. wen i set the timing, i lined up the cam to it's marks, but the crank pulley, is that set on the red mark in between the two lines, or on the white mark
lll or ll
i took it to my boy's garage. and he set it, but on the way home, i heard alot of valve lashing i guess(high dings in the valvetrain at lower rpms and higher gears) and it started losing out power like what i mentioned above about 20 mins into the drive home, so wen i got home, i set the timing back to the red mark on the crank pulley, i don't get any of the valvetrain noises now, but it still loses out on the power like previously mentioned

i believe that the red mark between the 3 line is for your ignition timing. well i dont know whats the other ones called but its a single mark that stand alone. thats the right mark to set the crank to.

Single mark is your TDC , thats how you align your camshaft in relation to your crank pulley. Ignition timing is a different story which has to do with those other marks.

i set the timing back to the single mark and aligned the camshaft, and the problem is still consistent. nothing really changed?
