Re: wtf does ricer mean? (sino305)
Rice= asian....
1 (Ricer: from the latin word Ricarius meaning to suck at everything you attempt)
A person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to):
- Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder
- Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747
- Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool
- Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself
- Bodykit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire
- Clear tail lights and corner signals
- A "performace intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine)
- Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some Supras, Skylines, WRX's and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therfore not always considered rice. It really depends on the severity of the case.
The "ricer" attempts to make their car "performance" by adding the modifications listed above. These ricers are not confined to any one ethnic group or color, however different ethnic groups are known for certain styles.
Honda Civics with big spoilers and 4" exhaust tips are considered to be ricers.
2. Ricer
Any oriental import car that has been modified for no real performance gain.
Ricer: An oriental car with no engine mods, a body kit, and possibly stickers. Made to look fast.
Not a ricer: An oriental car with a fully built engine, drive train, and suspension reguardless of appearance
3 Ricer - Any person who adds tasteless modifications to a perfectly normal automobile.

Re: wtf does ricer mean? (badboyr66)
when i got my 96 civic it was thrashed, I decided to do some things to it to make it look and drive better and then I get hit with the ricer tag, heh the way it seems is you can either have a dirty junky import or a ricer car if you fix it up, theres really no way to win. Unless of course you throw a sweet B or K series motor in it.

Just b/c u do a motor swap dosent keep you from being a ricer.

Re: (KRenegar1296)
Here is some rice I got a while ago... had to "de-rice" it
This is exactly how I got it.. no wait.. I took off some of the stickers on the way home to prevent a fight. I got the car from a friend "jack" Jack either has read bad taste or a real [freak]ed up sense of humor.
There was enough white paint on the dash to make hard to see through the reflection..e even at night
Engine was a wiring mess
After rice
dumped the "custom" teg cluster for a CRV unit

^What? Noooo. The cowls on the fenders help performance! Too bad about the CF hood though. If they wanted to be real awesome, they'd have one with the clear coat peeling...

Re: wtf does ricer mean?
The term "rice" originated as a name to all Japanese-made motorcycles and cars. Japan, rice, I'm sure you get the connection there.
In time that term has also began to refer to distasteful modifications done to these cars and even occassionally to domestic vehicles and vehicles built in other places besides Japan.
Since personal tastes can differ from person to person, so can "rice". One person might call a car rice while another finds it perfectly acceptable.
My personal preference is that usually a part is rice (and therefore likely the car it is on) if:
- the part is not for that car
- the part is installed poorly
- the part does not fit correctly or is of poor build quality
- the part is gaudy and does not appear to belong on the car
Again, of course people will have different opinions on each of those criteria. In my experience most people follow those same criteria, though their opinion on gaudiness and build quality and such might differ from person to person.
Oh, and a ricer would be a person who drives such a car OR a person who drives like a moron, racing about with disregard for others.
Yes, most people would call this car rice.
Reasons:
- Chrome wheels
- Bright green paint
- Large tall spoiler
- vented fenders
- Body kit
- Body kit is molded on
- Cowl hood
Though I am not usually a fan of carbon fiber exterior parts, most people seem to not think of them as rice, especially if in the form of a carbon fiber hood.
Did you have to bump this two year old thread to ask that?
