Weight Removal Experts: How much does my car Weight (Est.)
I do not have access to a scale for another 2 months or so, over the winter I did some extensive lightening to my car, was looking for some educated guesstimates before I actually hit the scales. I guess I am more looking for the total weight of all the stuff I have removed, as I have added heavy things such as a large turbo manifold and turbo, and a large frontmount and I am about to add 35-40lbs of Cromoly for the roll bar. This is a list of what I have removed:
Complete AC System (compressor, evaporator and condensor w/ wiring)
Complete ABS System w/ Wiring
PS System
No Blower Motor
All Sound Deadening Material (easy 40+ pounds alone)
Rear Seats/Brackets/Accessories and Carpet
No Spare Tire/Jack Anything!
No Rear Wiper or Antenna, associated wiring removed
No Front Bumper Beam
Lightweight Battery
SK2 LCA's
No Seatbelts (have harnesses)
Anything additional I can remove w/o sacraficing the saftey of myself or truly removing the streetability of the car? I would like to keep my door beams and interior metal in the quarters so that is out of the question, I dont want to cut metal. I am looking into a Lexan Rear and Quarter Windows, how much weight savings is in those windows?
I am guessing/hoping that w/o me my car lies in the 2450-2500lb area, and I conservative in assuming this? The car is a no leather car but still retains power windows and locks (street car).

well considering your car started off weighing about 2680 or so, I think its a stretch to assume youve removed 200 lbs.
why are you removing all that stuff, most likely youre upsetting the weight balance of the car, and probably barely making it any faster.

Why haven't you pulled the sunroof motor and glass from your GSR? That is extremely bad weight. You can plug the hole.

I wanted to keep it for extra air flow...lol I drive this car and it gets 95-100 deg out here in the summer with 100% humidity How much weight is there? I saw some nice plug kits. I actually have my headliner out now for the bar install, but I really dont want to have to buy an RS or ITR headliner to go back in there.

I didnt build this car to go around turns so weight balance is a non issue to me, and 200lb will definately make a car go faster in the 1/4 mile.

The sunroof motor constitutes most of the weight. If I recall correctly, the motor, track, and glass tally to about 40 lbs. You can keep the head liner. Just put a sign above the sunroof cover. LOL

Its not going to make that big of a difference lol. You might see maybe a tenth taken off your time, Its not going to be a noticable difference.

As far as cutting the guts out of the car..... no I want to remove everything I can w/o cutting into the car
I am considering the Sunroof and Lexan the rear quarters and rear window and a CF hatch

thx for the link, he has some extra stuff removed like the SRS system, I need to get into that just have not pulled the dash apart yet.
By adding what he has in there that I removed, plus my rear seats and 40lbs of deadening will put me around 2450-2500.
